Meet Paulette!

Hola from Mexico friends.

One or two of you might have this question – yes, I feel totally normal. My hands, my feet. I feel like I used to before being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I hope this is a positive reset for my body. But…. I sure miss ya!

I’m very excited to share one of our NP crew members with you today! Meet Paulette DeKelver.

Hi my name is Paulette.

I was surprised, honoured, and humbled to receive the Positivity Award last week.

I used to believe completely and wholeheartedly in ride or die, go at all costs.

My attitude has shifted though. I’m still ride or die. It’s the second part that’s changed. What are the costs? What am I willing to pay? What even am I paying? How does my body feel?

I repeat that last one to myself, a lot. How does my body feel? I am ride or die about staying in touch with my body.

Sometimes that means I get at it hard. Sometimes I talk and have great conversations on the hill. Sometimes I do my best quietly, with fierce determination at having just shown up.

And, yes, sometimes it means I stay in bed and rest. I am intentional about those mornings. I have learned the hard way that deep rest is important. Burn out is real. Mental health is real.

Stress + rest = progress

I am here for the progress. Slow though it may seem at times.

And I am so grateful for November Project, a true community that welcomes all levels of fitness. It is more than lip-service, it’s true, and it matters.

I love the runners that sprint by me on the hill panting out good mornings. I love the walkers, joggers, and picture takers. I love those who look up and look around. I love those with their head down just trying to get it done. And, I love our co-leaders and babysitters who make this happen.

#justshowup is more than a catch phrase. It’s medicine. And it belongs to each of us.

See you at 5:58 am.  I am glad you’re here.

Paulette
