March Gladness (Ottawa)

Forget that March madness situation, here at November Project Ottawa we’ve had a lovely month exploring a different museum each Wednesday morning and, perhaps more importantly, checking out new morning coffee shops that are near said museums. Plus, if you’re committing to one emotion for the whole month, gladness just seems more sustainable.

ANYWAY, let’s get to it:

Workout Highlights!

WEEK 1 – Museum of Nature

We kicked Museum month off with a classic at the Museum of Nature. Such a classic in fact, that it’s tempting to re-use the blog post from that very workout last year…

We dino stomped and hopped like a bunny
And sure, some of us might have looked kinda funny
We jumped up and yelled, “I’m a star!”
And attempted bear crawls that went way too far
Hakuna Matata played on the speakers
While cheetahs sprinted with speedy sneakers

Pretty sure that all happened this year, too…

WEEK 2 – Bank of Canada Museum

With the price of everything going up, we know everyone can use a bit of a side hustle. Look no further than the Bank of Canada Museum where you can earn $10 just for doing 20 calf raises! An even $50 for some plank shoulder taps… a cool $100 for 50 bicycles per side. And, for the hustlers out there, you can earn a $500 bill (because those definitely exist outside of Monopoly) for doing either 50 burpees or 100 pushups!

Note: if you enter the Bank of Canada with this money and try to make a deposit, it will not go well.

WEEK 3 – Library and Archives Canada

While the experts are still out on the whole chicken/egg order of things, we wanted to know what came first… The founding of the Ottawa Senators or the first Canadian going to space? The invention of walkie talkies or LEGO? And when were burpees invented again?? Before or after the first Canadian won a Nobel prize?

It was up to you to figure out the order of these (and many more!) events. Naturally, there were some friendly consequences of getting the order wrong… and some equally fun outcomes for getting the order right! It was win win, really.

WEEK 4 – Muséoparc Vanier

Hey, remember that time that you did almost 300 burpees? Voluntarily? That was neat!

In case you weren’t there and could use a bit of context… The gang split up into groups of 3. While person 1 did some running, person 2 did an exercise of person 1’s choosing, and person 3… well, you guessed it, rode the burpee train. It’s like a train that is powered by burpees. But without the comfortable seating and soothing rocking motion of the train. It’s actually nothing like a train. It’s more like just doing many consecutive burpees. And look at those happy post-burpee faces 🙂

WEEK 5 – PR Day!

And finally, one last stop at the Bytown Museum for PR day! Didn’t even know that “freezing fog” was a thing, but hey, just another opportunity to showcase how weatherproof this group can be, right?!

The Coveted Bedazzled Frisbee

This month’s recipient of the one and only bedazzled frisbee is someone who is not only consistent, but also always offering a helping hand, organizing social outings with friends and community members, working hard, and generally just being a great human. If you haven’t met him yet, you’re gonna want to meet… Dean!

…congratulations, Dean! We’re glad you’re here.

Birthday Booms this month go out to…

Anna (Feb 24) – just missed the Feb blog boom!
Candle (Mar 7)
Wendy (Mar 15)
Barbara (Mar 20)

…BOOM!!
