#LoveJoy 3 of 4

If you haven’t figured it out by now, we’re spending every single Monday morning #DestinationDeck in the month of February at LoveJoy Wharf in Boston.  It’s beautiful, it’s fun, it’s in the middle of the city and blasts us every week with gorgeous views of the sun coming up over the water, the iconic Zakim Bridge in the background, and the epic TD Garden at our side.  Not to mention the fun, fierce, and fantastic workouts each week.  It’s so rad that we can use the exact same space every week and find totally unique ways to use the space to get our fitness on.  It’s inspiring to see Boston from such a beautiful perspective each week and find new reasons to love this city of ours.

Today we played a weird variation of the old competitive card game “spoons,” while also doing a traditional old school “deck of cards” workout.

Teams of 5 worked out together while taking turns running upstairs to the Converse deck to draw a new card to bring back to the team.  Only when a team collected 4 of a kind (number, not suit) did they scream their heads off and the round was over.  It was a little nutty, a lot of fun, a widdle bit windy, and a lot of running, planking, squat holding, pushup-ing, situp-ing, lunging, jump squatting, and jumping jacks.  We finished with a weird invisible hula hoop moment, which we shall not even try to explain, and our race course throughout the entire Wharf.

Fast and intense racing this morning folks.  The Rando die gave us 6 insane, awesome, better-than-staying-in-bed minutes of burpees.  Thank you Rando die.  Much to be proud of.  There is only one more week to show your stuff at the LoveJoy, so don’t hesitate, #justshowup.

Speaking of showing up, there is a small and dedicated crew who have been at EVERY. Single. Monday in February.  So far.  I want hands up…who has been at all three Monday #destinationdecks this month?  If your hand is raised, make sure that you comment (#3for3) on the FB post so we have your attendance recorded and we can ready the prizes for next week.  You’ll also have to officially #verbal to show up.  We will see your face in all the group photos–and next week if you are also in attendance, you will go home with a pretty non-average Monday “trophy.”  Go ahead and guess what it is.  Or don’t guess.  Wonder about it, worry about it, get excited about it, or don’t.  But know that showing up has it’s benefits.  Who can go 4 for 4 Mondays?  We’ll see next week at LoveJoy Wharf.  Bring your friends and bring your self. Moms are welcome too, weird uncles and distant cousins will be hugged as well.  The workout, the prizes, the hugs, and the whole show will be worth the early beep of your alarm.  It’ll be worth the couple of miles you run to get there.  It’ll be worth the high you’ll have all day Monday as a result.

Speaking of HYPE, Wednesday is coming.  The LAST Wednesday of February is coming 2 days from today.  That means it’s #PRday.  We’re bringing the PR chain, we’re throwing down, and we’re seeing if we can run faster than this thing called winter around us.  The sun is doing it’s job melting the snow in the stadium and some of us spend the holiday Monday assisting that big ball of fire in the sky to clean up enough of the stadium to ensure that we. will. run. a. full. tour. on Wednesday.  37 sections.  #fuckyeah my friends, let’s do this.  See you at the stairs.
