Keep It Dill

NP Vancouver Co-Lead, Verner Von Lofstrand’s Retirement

2023-12-13

A blend of emotions—gratitude, nostalgia, and a tinge of sadness. Many memories of the screaming roar of the Big Dill. Many burpees are being ordered out! And a fierce energy that leaves us wanting more. Verner Von Lofstrand is remarkable; his influence has left an indelible mark on our community.

Verner’s holdfast, unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership have been the cornerstone of our November Project Vancouver during the height and scariest times of the pandemic. It was uncertain times, and so many of our lives were changing, falling apart and upheaved by the genuine fears the world had to come to terms with. Regardless, from the crack of dawn to deep conversations into the night, his passion for fostering a healthier, more vibrant community has been a true gift for so many of us. His enthusiasm has uplifted our spirits, nudging us out of our comfort zones and into limitless possibilities. I honestly don’t know how I would have survived this pandemic without him.

It’s impossible to overlook his incredible feats as an ultra runner. His perseverance, grit, and sheer determination on the trails are awe-inspiring. Verner has led by example and encouraged us to push our boundaries, showing us that limitations exist only in the mind – or at least how much we can stomach! From cheering us on during our races to pushing us with our paces. From setting up the start line and his arms open wide to embrace us at the finish line.

Verner is such an integral part of continuing the go-hard-idiot-gene positivity, building connections and incredible camaraderie during the most challenging times we’ve experienced as a world. His presence has made our city a warmer, more welcoming place.

Verner, as you embark on your next batch of whacky adventures into retirement, we want you to know that your impact will resonate within our memories as we continue forward. Your absence will be deeply felt. We’ll miss your guidance, zingers and beautiful smile, and we’re excited for you as you embrace this new phase. You’ve touched many of our hearts, helped us grow a few abs, and built ourselves up during our darkest times.

Your legacy remains etched in the heart of our November Project family. Your footsteps, both on the trails and in our lives, will continue to inspire us long after you’ve taken this well-deserved step back, carrying the torch of passion that has defined your journey with us. We love you and thank you for everything. You are certainly and always will be our very biggest dill.
