WEEK #9 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER was a special one. Not only was it Easter/Bunny themed, but it was lead by two previous guest leaders. Taking a page from our Sister City’s playbook, Rich and I decided “why the hell not???”, let’s see what they come up with. And OH. MY. GAWD. Mike and Verner put together one eggscellent workout with Bunny Burpees, Bunny Hops, Bunny Break Dancing, etc. They took us to a part of the park we had never used before… It was muddy as can be and yet, no one complained. They embraced it. One comment was “I’ve never been this dirty at a workout” – traverbal from NPDC. Welcome to Vancouver – this is what happens when it doesn’t stop raining. The guys literally hand fed people Mini Eggs which in turn induced some chocolate flavoured burps. Not burpees, BURPS. Better out than in, am I right!? Verner caused quite the stir in his wife’s pink onesie – not only hilarious, but it also seemed as though he was smuggling some eggs of his own… “I wish the inseam was longer on this onesie” …. “So do I”. We capped off the workout with a Sebastian Challenge (7 minutes of Burpees – chest to the ground, feet off the ground) with Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Kelowna and Victoria. A sash will be made for the individual winner (a Calagarian with 134) … but didn’t we all win?
And now, a word, or rather several words from Mike and Verner:

“What a show! Holy shit thanks for coming out!!
Seriously though, it was great seeing you all out there, killin’ it and making the day yours.
Mike and I were running the course, flagging the obstacles, and giving it a test drive.
IT. WAS. MUDDY.
We weren’t sure people would like it but I feel it brought out some tough as hell action in all of us.
Mike joked with me as we ran up the hill “we’ll just ask them: is it mud or is it chocolate?”
That’s a great point Mike. What was it? Mud or Chocolate? Pain or Pleasure? Happy Bunny or Dirty
Bunny? (though in my opinion both are fine)
Waking up, earlier than you would like to. Stepping out into the rain. Planting those new running shoes
in mud at breakneck speed. Few would describe these as the chocolate.
Hugs, high fives, being with your fitfamily, starting the day on a killer workout, proving you’re stronger
than the weather, proving you’re stronger than you thought you were. These are the chocolate.
On days like today I get to see it. Whether you’re one of the fastest (and we got some fast mother
bunnies out there), got the best form on those countless burpees, or just have a diehard attitude to
keep this up, I saw it. I saw you. And a lot of other people do too. You are strong, and trust me you’re
only getting stronger.
Today, it was chocolate. But you can’t just take it from me. You gotta show up, run up to that dirty ass
bunny, stick those greedy, muddy hands into his basket, pull out those slimy wet mini eggs, pop ‘em into
your sweaty mouth, chew ‘em up and find out for yourself. You were there. You did it.
Was it chocolate?
This shit is bananas man. #4011
Mike and Verner”
