Dun dun dun dun dun…dun dun dun dun dun…dun dun dun dun dun DUN! Hopefully that sounded like the Hockey Night in Canada theme song in your head and not the Batman one, because this week we had the pleasure of virtually visiting the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
After a nail biting week full of goals (cardio), assists (planks), penalty minutes (burpees), shots (squats) and hat-tricks (wellness activities) … the numbers are in! The NP Ottawa & Toronto communities completed a total of:
14,420 minutes of cardio
354 minutes of planks
1,755 burpees
10,520 squats
327 wellness activities
…with a final score of 796 [Toronto] to 795 [Ottawa] . Fans of both teams report that Ottawa competitors respectfully accepted their defeat, while those in Toronto were equally gracious winners. Our sources tell us that co-leaders from both cities remained calm and composed at all times, and were at no point frantically doing squats on screen between 6:21 and 6:25am.
All jokes aside (which is not something we say lightly), this friendly competition was incredibly motivating for so many of us, and provided another creative way of bringing communities together in movement and sweat. Safe to say, if Sens & Leafs fans can come together and support one another, then anything is possible. That being said, is everyone ready for round two? Or better yet, best of 7??
A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this week so exciting and motivating! Where did you get your points? Walks, runs, and hikes? Pumping out squats, planks and burpees? Or making time for important wellness activities like reading, cooking, sleeping, and calling a friend? Even though the competition itself is finished, hopefully this week was a good reminder of the importance of all of the above. Yes, even burpees are important. They remind us to appreciate the moments in life when we are not doing burpees.
Have a fantastic week. Whether you tuned in from Toronto or from Ottawa… we are so happy you’re here 🙂
Sole-fully,
Rebecca, Becca, Mei & Steph
