Sometimes it’s hard to choose those special moments of the morning because there are so many, and many we may not even hear about, but we hope they are shared between tribe members or with friends, family and colleagues after the morning’s events. Some notable special moments include visitors from the November Project family from Winnipeg and Worcester! Ready for tags, bringing home their new Ottawa city tags and bringing so much wonderful energy from their home tribe. We love learning from them and welcoming them to our community. What we find so neat about this is it reminds us about the community outside our community in Ottawa. When you know that across the globe, a whole group of people are getting out of their beds bright and early to step outside of their comfort zones and get a little silly and sweaty too, you feel a connection that is bigger than just your city and within your tribe. When you are traveling, you can look up the November Project tribe and expect some kind of variation of a bounce, hugs, high fives and smiles, no matter where you show up.
Here in Ottawa everyone brings that something special to the group. Whether it’s a welcoming hug to the newbie because they know that’s just what we do here, quiet words of encouragement as you pass them on the run route, a loud cheer nearing the end of the workout for that last push we all need, a hug goodbye to a stranger, initiating the introduction to your partner, throwing out high fives mid-workout just because it’s fun, making sure nobody is ever alone. These are things that tribe members are doing as we continue to create a positive culture that continues to build our community and makes people want to come back for more.
Shout out to the runner who joined us post bounce as we gathered enough attention with our yelling and spray painting on Wellington street, to the RCMP officer who may have out-cheered all of us throughout the route and to Lululemon, and their leadership team for joining us. We loved having you. We also appreciated the post-workout fuel and time to get to know our community when we weren’t gasping for our mid-workout.

A wise tribe member quoted today “I’m going to use this as a recruiting tactic… tell them that one time we got bagel sandwiches and coffee! You should probably come try it in case it happens again” We say, why not! What are your recruiting strategies? They are going to come in handy because June is going to be ALL about recruiting. Here is our next challenge! Canada Day week workout –Wednesday, June 28: we need 150 people for Canada’s 150th birthday. Start spreading the word and #RECRUITEVERYONE
