Wisconsin notes:
- Baltimore. Just cause. Or maybe there’s a reason? Do it.
- Danielle because friends are great
- Renée’s video skills – creepy, but awesome?
I am constantly learning things from November Project. So far from this summer season one of the lessons that has hit home the most is the power of this community for someone who is new to a city, or perhaps coming back after a long absence, or even just looking for a new group of friends or to step outside their comfort zone. This lesson hit home for me when Jamie showed up at his first YWG workout a few months ago – it was incredible to watch the crowd welcome him here that day, but even more amazing is to see how someone can go from knowing absolutely no one in a new city to having a huge social group that hangs out regularly on weekdays, weekends, and the occasional early Wednesday. Sure it helps that Jamie is fast as fuck and that beard belongs in a lumberjack calendar (word on the street is that the girls and some of the Toms have been calling him Hot Jamie, which is totally inappropriate and everyone please start doing that now). But i’d like to think that we would have welcomed him, beard or not – cuz thats what we do. And he has a dog so there’s that.
Watching that happen earlier this year makes me even more excited to welcome in our newest recruit Danielle Pahud. Turns out Boston has sent a spy over and she’ll be bouncing with Winnipeg for the next forever, which is super exciting but also super intimidating cuz damn those stairs at Harvard are hard to keep up with. Danielle has shown up hard the last two weeks and i’m SUPER excited to join her on her journey of getting to know this awesome city we live in and this amazing tribe we have. Welcome her, friend her on facebook, and show her a little bit of that Friendly Manitoba. We’ll wait a little bit before we give her any creepy nicknames, though (turns out we aren’t very creative – it will probably be Hot Danielle. But i’ll just let it happen organically).
Did you see the video Renée posted? It’s awesome. A little creepy, but awesome. Go be like Renée and post something magical to NP Baltimore – if you do good we’ll tell you why NEXT WEEK. Also, be even more like Renée because she SHABOOYA’d really hard this week and we’re damn proud of her for it.
Peace, love, and a baltimore purple asparagus. (Don’t know what that is? Come next week to find out!)
Rick
