Let’s play a quick game of “Would You Rather”:
- A) Water Slide
- B) Get your long run in
- C) Drink Beer
If you’re having trouble deciding, don’t worry, we got you covered because this Saturday you get to do all three. As part of our relationship with Coney Island Brewing, we are hosting a workout on Coney Island prior to heading to the brewery to enjoy brunch. Few questions you may be asking yourself outlined below, but, for those reading challenged individuals, Milwaukee notes first:
Start: Foley Square (Summer Streets, big slide)
End: Steeplechase Pier, Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, NY 11218
When: 8:00am, Saturday, August 19th (water slide opens at 7:00am)
How: Over the BK Bridge, down Flatbush Ave, through Prospect Park and down Ocean Avenue
What (to bring): Water, photo ID, cash monies, credit card
1) Coney Island exists on days other than the Brooklyn Half Marathon?
Yes! This was a recently learned fact by Jason through the planning of this very event. Shout out (and big thank you) to Molly for having known this and mapped this run previously.
2) What’s this about a water slide?
This Saturday is the last day of Summer Streets presented by (a bunch of sponsors). As evidenced by your IG and Facebook feeds, there’s a giant f*ckin water slide in Manhattan that looks like a ton of fun. Unfortunately it’s already booked but rumor is if you go at the beginning before it gets too crowded (7:00am start time — you’re welcome we’re letting you sleep in on Saturday).
3) I understand you co-leaders are the most amazing, awesome-est leaders in all the land but the BK Half shuts down the expressway for the whole morning…..you don’t have that kind of pull?
Yes, we do. But we don’t need it this time because luckily your tax dollars paid off – there’s sidewalk the entire way. That being said, you are responsible for your safety and, as such, should obey pedestrian laws. If you want to run on the expressway, you can…we will not be….and we strongly suggest you don’t either.
