CHEER CHAIN (from guest blogger, Zach)

There’s a new award in town.

But this one doesn’t come from the leaders. Not from Andy or Kevin or Brendan or Brent or Brogan or Bojan.

This award is #grassroots. It’s from us, to us.

Starting today, NP Chicago’s Cheer Chain is a new way to recognize each other for the ways we work together to make our community stronger.

The chain will be passed at the end of a workout from one member to another. The giver will tell us a little about why the other is receiving it, keep it brief, give them a hug, and share a tear. The next time the cheer-chain-winner is at a workout [Or, when the time is fitting is do so] they will have the honor to pass it on to the next deserving individual during announcements. We’ll make an effort to share the love and avoid having repeat winners unless it’s been a real long time and they’re just that darn amazing.

Also, the Chain is now the newest tag in NP. If you win it, spray some paint through the links onto your shirt for permanent recognition. This one’s steel so it *can* go in the fire and get cleaned every now and then.

As for the origins of the chain? It was our original PR Day award for taking awesome photos. Then Andy lost it in the trunk of his car, then he found it in the wheel well of the car years later. Or something like that. Either way, it’s ours now, and we’re not giving it back.

Let’s wear it proudly and let it be a symbol of our strength together!

Today’s inaugural passing-of-chain went from John Julitz to Megan Walsh for all the energy and positivity she brings to every workout. Congrats, Megan!
