Kristen is tribe member you may recognize. Girls On The Run is an organization that hits close to your heart. This time of year its always nice to reflect and give back to communities that could use some support. As a tribe we will be volunteering along the course as course marshals for the upcoming Girls On The Run 5k. Please read this beautifully written blog post by Kristen and how you can support Girls On The Run next Sunday.
GETTING IN THE SPIRIT
Welcome, to THAT time of year. The ‘holidays are joyful’ and ‘home for the holidays’ type of advertisements that are sprinkled everywhere you turn. And while that can be true, it can also be overwhelming and lonely…for real, for real. New York is filled with transients and sometimes, home isn’t a reality during the holiday season.
Let me Celebrate YOU
Great job to everyone who chose to #justshowup this Wednesday morning at Fort Greene Park we had two newbies one of which was in an arm cast – so if you still are coming up with excuses why you can’t show up throw the excuses away and# justshowup

At the end of the workout we took some time out to celebrate two amazing humans who are celebrating birthdays
Chase The Sun
Friday morning was all about collaboration. Having November project NYC and a November Project Brooklyn ; two tribes working as one to race a hard ass bridge. The idea of racing bridges is something Darcy and Adam think about in their sleep. Thry are obsessed with bridges and have been so creative in designing an urban race series out of it. What better when to do that than combining all three come together and crush an awesome bridge. Darcy and Adam say they are not much of morning ppl but seeing that sunrise over that bridge this morning was pretty fucking awesome. It was worth getting out of bed and forcing yourself to stumble to the start line. Once Mary popped that imaginary race gun the race to chase that sun was ON. Adam came through as the first finisher like a beast in a time of 17:56 I think there was smoke coming off his shoes. I loved seeing the two tribes pushing each other up and over that bridge and through the finish. Huge shout out to those who came out for the first time. We were so happy to share this first Friday with all of you. We know kicked off the official start of many more Friday adventures.
Chase The Sun

A Guest Blog from Janelle Hartman – Timing is Everything and Nothing
Today’s guest blog comes from Janelle Hartman: a hard working, completely badass rockstar that we could not be more thrilled to call a member of OUR tribe. If you haven’t met her yet, you should, here is her story:
The road to becoming a part of the November Project Tribe-NYC.
My road to NP-NYC started about 2 years ago when I volunteered for the New York Road Runners’ Team Championships. I was working in the volunteer check-in and Paul Leak (yes, that Paul Leak of #paulleak fame) was the Volunteer Boss for the race. Many of the November Project runners came over to see Paul before they went off to what I figured were 5-6 minute mile paces for the Team Championships (you are welcome). I thought “I could never go to the workouts with these extremely fit and very young runners. I said to Paul, “I don’t think I could be a part of November Project but if you have a late December Project, that maybe more my speed…”
Racing. Running. FUNing
Racing. Running. FUNning.
What you need to know about RACING:
Here’s the thing: Jeanie and I make it known that we push it to the limit (end of story). What you may not know, is that racing comes in many different forms: racing to get the first hug of the morning, racing to have the best dance move of the night, even racing to give each other that tease or reminder to help the other crack a smile. Here in New York, from…what, March (?!) through the end of November, races are like candy on Halloween: everywhere, every kind, and sometimes, a litttttttle pricey. This weekend is the club championships (look at our previous guest blog post from Myles) and this is an opportunity for us to show up with all our pride and all our might for our community here, and world wide. Again, this is not just about racing (which, in some eyes, is what Saturday morning will boil down to), it’s also about seeing how racing has evolved from running to impact so many lives around us and connect us all, with a side of healthy competition. I could go on and on (and then some) about the good, the bad, and the ugly of this topic – instead, we segue to our next title…
#raceeverything guest blog post by Myles Fennon
As we step into the week of one of the biggest races in New York we asked Captain Myles Fennon to write a blog post about how you can join the team.
Many of you have probably heard of New York Road Runner (NYRR), they’re the great folks who put on the NYC Marathon along with more than 50 other running related events throughout the year. You may also have heard stories of John and Paul, former NP_NYC leaders and NYRR alumni. Back when NP_NYC was still in it’s infancy, some of us would get together before races to take a picture. Soon enough, we realized that many of us were running unaffiliated, but most of us were racing in neon clad, spray painted shirts. So in 2015, team NP was born as a club within NYRR.
lets get it started …..
Today was a little different for the Brooklyn crew of November Project. When the tribe members arrived to Fort Greene park they were welcomed with the usual sweaty hugs but a big camera crew from Strava. They are in town to film a short film about the running community and how diverse and different the running community is. Often times runners are intimidated about running and starting for the very first time. Theres always every excuse in the book why not to start. It is very common for us to compare ourselves to others especially with all the forms of social media out there. A few excuses are listed below
Something Old, Something New
We are in the thick of wedding season. Between J and I, it’s been weddings and bachelor parties almost every weekend. All the wedding stuff got me thinking about the saying “Something Old, Something New,….”, and how important it is to reflect on the old so we can appreciate the new.
