Today was just like any other Wednesday. I showed up to Griffith Observatory, and made sure the workout made sense. The pitter patter of crutches making their way across the parking lot alerted me to Maggie’s arrival. Then through the darkness a figure became more clear in the light and sure enough it was Steve. Today though, was Steve’s first workout not as a co-leader in a little over 2 years. Today, was the beginning of #BuckNolting.

Maggie took care of the bounce, and I explained the loop that we would be running along with workout stations to stop at. Business as usual. More than a few times today people would come up to Maggie or me and say that the workout was hard. When it was first said to me I was slightly worried that Maggie and I dialed it up too far, but then I noticed the smile that followed the words. Every time someone mentioned how much the hill sucked, they said it with a smile.

Of course it’s hard to complain about how much your quads burn when there is a badass human being crutching up the hill next to you. That’s what I love about Maggie, she is fucking intense!(Also slightly crazy.) Steve said it on Friday that he was comfortable passing the co-leader torch along to Maggie and me because he knew we were the right kind of weird for this tribe. If today is any indication as to how the tribe is going to respond to #BuckNolting then I have no concerns. Everyone matched our energy today and stepped up to the challenge. I promise we will never give you more than you can handle, but we will make the workouts worth it.
