2) Take a picture or video of yourself completing a task within a category square. An example is getting a picture or video of yourself eating a Philly Cheesesteak or trying a Tastykake (if you don’t know what a Tastykake is, you should by the time you leave!).

3) When you complete a task in a particular category, add a 🔔 emoji/GIF/sticker over the square you have completed. If you have a physical copy you can just mark it off. Repeat this each time you complete a square. NP SUMMIT 10: Philadelphia Transportation Guide

Intro to SEPTA Transportation Guide

Hello all! We at November Project Philadelphia are super stoked to be the hosting the 10th annual November Project Summit September 16th through the 19th. This guide is meant to give you a crash course on how to get around Philly so you can spend less time planning when you are here, more time having fun perusing our city with awesome people, and less money on UBERs. Getting around Philly is pretty easy once you learn the lay of the land and we would much rather you spend more money on food, experiences and activities than transportation. Using this guide to navigate the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transport Authority (SEPTA) system is highly recommended to enhance your NP Summit 10 experience, it is highly encouraged that you use this. Before we get started make sure you get familiar with the SEPTA trip planner on your desktop so you can start planning ahead based on where you are staying. Otherwise, you can use google maps while you are on the go. Just make sure to toggle to the Public Transportation icon in your maps app for the best route options. read more

Black Owned Business Crawl Recap

Saturday, May 21st November Project Philly held its first ever Black Owned Business Crawl – a 5 mile run to Black Owned Businesses around the city of Philadelphia. As unique of an idea as it may sound, Black Owned Business Crawls have become a great way to garner support for Black and Brown owned businesses around the nation. However, to put our November Project stamp on it, we integrated aspects of other Black Owned Business Crawls with a well known Storytelling event format known as “The Crate Escape” – an event where participants ran from location to location to hear theme based stories from people within their community. This style of event not only encouraged patronage, but also fostered connection, curiosity, and exploration in a way that provides opportunities for greater visibility, appreciation, and support of black owned establishments. Listed below will be information about the businesses that participated along with some ways YOU can support them moving forward. If you are attending the November Project Summit in Philadelphia this September, I highly recommend you take notes. 😉 To begin the event, the group met up at REC Philly which is located at 9th and Market St on the 2nd floor of the Fashion District mall in Center City. read more

Each week this February we have been encouraging readers like you to participate in a scavenger hunt to explore and connect with historical places commemorating and acknowledging the contributions of African Americans in Philadelphia’s history. Each week we have identified people or places for you to learn more information about, and this week we will be talking about Julian Abele and his contributions to the very land we, November Project Philly, have been calling home for over 8 years. read more
