The Present of Presence (DCA)

WHY?

It’s a question so often asked by friends, family, coworkers, and random strangers. Why do we get up so early? Why do we look forward to MWF mornings? Why do we find joy and motivation within a group of people we barely* even know?

*The first thing they don’t realize is that after meeting people at NP, you feel like you’ve known them forever read more

DC’s 4 CORNER FRIDAYS (DCA)

Fridays. A significant amount of association with the word occurs in everyone’s brains. Usually, the first thing that comes to mind is the weekend. Maybe it’s a time to get away, take a quick vacation, visit friends or family, or lounge on your couch with your dog and binge on TV shows (possibly speaking from experience). read more

MAYor Bowser (DCA)

Today, like every other Friday morning (Mondays & Wednesdays too), was the PERFECT way to start the weekend. Today was the culmination of a SOLID grassroots effort to recruit people, fellow neighbors, coworkers, mayors, and friends to JUST SHOW UP. The cooperative effort by like-minded individuals that is November Project DC is the REAL DEAL. read more

November Project (and/is) Family (DCA)

Announcements below. Today’s guest blog brought to you by Noli, a longtime member of the DC tribe:

November Project (and) Family.

November Project (is) Family.

I found my tribe (#NP_DC) three years ago in February, and today—May 3, 2017—is hands down the day I have most felt the NP family.

Not Mad, But Perry Disappointed (SF -> DCA)

The tales, anecdotes, and fables might actually be true. Rapunzel really did let down her hair. Humpty Dumpty was put back together again post-fall. San Franciscans really aren’t #Weatherproof.

It was something we joked about. An NP fable. November Project California? They might be fast and fit (well, it seems like San Diego is too busy throwing snowballs and making weird faces) but are they weatherproof? When it really comes down to it, will they hold to their #VERBAL and #JustShowUp? read more

#NP_DC: Show and Tell

We all remember those days way back when. It’s your turn to present at kindergarten show and tell. You suggest that you simply pick your nose and show your classmates your boogers but your parents want you to go with something else (fascists). Regardless, despite the anxiety of standing up before your peers and discussing a passion of yours, it turns out to be quite fun. Maybe you make a new friend or deepen your friendship with others based on mutual interests. Let’s be real though, how deep is a kindergartener’s friendship? Moving on… read more

To SF, With Love: #FastAsSam (DCA)

I didn’t know Sam.

But after reading story after story, blog posts and anecdotes, I realized I did know Sam. We had never met face to face, but I know her. You do too.

Sam is in every one of us. When you smile from ear to ear and you laugh until it hurts, that’s Sam. When you commit to thoroughly enjoying the life you’ve been given, the people around you, the beauty in the city and world around you, that’s Sam. The friend that makes you laugh until you cry, that’s Sam. The random stranger that comes up to you, strikes up a conversation, smiling the whole time, that’s Sam. read more

Remember The Name (DC)

Think back in the day. Middle school. High school. College? Think about a time you had a crush on someone. You thought there’s no way they know who I am. They don’t even know my name. But they’re SUPER CUTE.

And then one day, you’re between classes, grabbing that big ass biology book from your locker and there they are. Your crush. Walking towards you. Well, not towards you but down the hall and about to pass you. You lock eyes. Your tongue swells up. You mumble something to the effect of heyumhihelloseeyouinclassokbye. Your crush on the other hand says hey ________ (insert your name here). read more
