The holiday season is upon us, and we know that for many people this means…TRAVELS! Maybe you are going home to visit family, traveling to visit your kids or in-laws, or just taking a vacation to #neverstopexploring the world. Well, you’re in luck because one of the most AMAZING things about November Project is that it all over the WORLD! If you’ve been paying attention, November Project is now officially in 44 cities across the world and there are who knows how many NP pledges in more cities. This holiday season, we challenge you to seek out these other tribes on your travels! At November Project, we call this act of traveling to another city’s workout a #traverbal.
WHY do we do so many BURPEES?! (MSN)
Today’s workout was hard. Like, really hard. We ran around every inch of the Capitol, up and down allll the stairs for 30 minutes straight, and then gutted out 5 minutes of burpees, plank, push-ups, plank, BURPEES. There were smiles, there were groans, and there were smiles again when it was over. Yes, we heard you and saw the twinkles of dread in your eyes when we announced that we were doing ANOTHER minute of burpees. So, WHY do we do so many burpees?!?
#ECSWI MSN Moments
Last weekend was amazing. Tribes from near and far traveled (#VANS) to Wisconsin to race, camp, swim, laugh, eat ice cream and cheese curds, drink beers, and make new friends. Weekends like this when tribes come together are magic and remind us how much bigger November Project is than just our own cities. For some people, these weekends are times to connect with old friends from other tribes and add another race medal to their collection. For others, they are a first exposure to tribes from other cities and even a first race! All of these stories are special and worth sharing. We asked our tribe about some of their favorite or most memorable stories from the weekend so we could continue reliving the fun and share in some of the moments that made this weekend special for different people. Unfiltered, unedited: words from the MSN TRIBE!

Guest blog by Ross Jacobson – Home away from home
I don’t need to go into the details on how amazing the entire Summit weekend was. Anybody who was there experienced first-hand all of the love, and any NP member who wasn’t in Boston that weekend has surely heard about it by now.
But the more important things I took away from visiting seven NP tribes over two months started materializing two days after Summit in New York.
I hopped off the subway, legs still throbbing from the marathon two days earlier, and walked to Morningside Park for NP NYC’s Monday workout. Outside of Summit, New York was the first NP tribe for which I had thrown down a #traverbal.
The warm-up was a bit different. The workout was a bit different. Even the bounce was a bit different.
The same held true for Dallas and Austin and San Francisco and Kansas City and Chicago. Every tribe had their local differences in how they conducted their sessions, just like we have diversity in our daily language, diets and lifestyles.
But the energy, the passion, the camaraderie, and the overall sense of community that I’ve come to love in NP was the same. Everywhere.
New York co-leader Mary was the one who pulled me through the final five miles of the Summit marathon course. She was the one who gave me water out of her own pack between aid stations even though she was running low.
And so I had to #justshowup on that following Monday in New York, to greet her with a huge hug.
After reuniting at Summit, Nathan from NP San Francisco gave me a place to stay, took me out for dinner/drinks with fellow NPers and made sure I was at their Wednesday workout in Alta Plaza Park.
And November Project Kansas City had more than a dozen people show up to a last-minute Friday pop-up workout they organized because I couldn’t get to the weekly Wednesday session.
Those are merely just a few examples of the genuine kindness shown to me by the co-leaders and members of all the tribes I was so fortunate to visit. They serve as a huge inspiration to pay these thoughtful acts forward to others and are a big reason why my trip around the country was so special.
It’s why no matter how far away I was staying or how late I was out the night before, I made sure to get to the November Project workouts that I could. It became a small taste of home while spending two months on the road.
There are so many amazing and altruistic people in this world. A lot of them are in your home tribe.
But even more can be found in the 40-something other NP communities all around the world.
Go meet them. Be inspired by them.
NP MSN Summer Shenanigans
Ah, summer in Madison. There is nothing quite like it. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and November Project seems to wake up from it’s winter hibernation. Suddenly it’s spandex, tank tops, and high-fives galore at workouts. And we love it.
Summertime in Madison means it’s time for ALL the activities. We have a lot fun things coming up fast, and we want you to be there. Read on to find out just exactly what we are up to, and why YOU need to mark your calendars for each and every one of these fabulous kick-ass events. There will be more information to come on each of these events in the future, but we thought we would put them all in one place for now so you know what is coming up!
MSN to MKE – it’s more than a long run
This morning, Austin Frion showed up to Bascom Hill for a typical Wednesday morning of crushing hills. After the workout, he did something a little different. Instead of going home and heading off to work, Austin is RUNNING to Milwaukee. Running to November Project Milwaukee’s Friday workout to be exact. He is running right now, as I am writing this, as you are reading this on your lunch break or procrastinating at work. He’s probably still running if you are reading this after dinner tonight. It’s pretty crazy and pretty cool and we are super HYPED for his journey. But this isn’t just some long run for shits and giggles. Austin has an awesome story behind his journey to becoming a runner and inspiration for this trek from MSN to MKE. Take a read and send some positive thoughts to him in Wisconsin.
Birthday Guest Blog – A FOUR Year Reflection
On February 6th, 2013, four people showed up to Bascom Hill and November Project Madison was born. Sarah Lindstrom was one of those people. She has been here since day one, and is STILL here! This is her story.
Like so many of us, I will never forget my first workout with November Project. It was a freezing day in February, and I was woefully underdressed. I had gone to a kickboxing class the night before, making me woefully sore, and there were about a million and one reasons to stay in bed. But I promised DG that I would meet him at Bascom at 6:30 and that I would bring a friend, so we just showed up. There were four of us, eyes wide, trying to move enough to stay warm. We ran up Bascom, threw Abe a penny, and ran down. We yelled words of encouragement across the hill and ended with an amazing sunrise and sweaty hugs. It was the greatest morning I’ve ever had, and I was hooked.
NP MSN: “Showing Up” recruiting challenge
Hey hey Madison. As you may have heard, we’re having a competition. Inter-tribe show up show down. Rally the troops. In honor of the November Project documentary “Showing Up” (Directed by Dooster, Powered by TNF) that will be showing up across the world in November, we are having a “Showing Up” recruiting challenge!
Story time with NP_MSN: Chapter 2
Story time continues. The much anticipated Chapter 2 is here. Check out Chapter 1 if you missed it!
These are the stories of our tribe. These are the people running next to you up that hill and hugging you every week. Each story is important because each tribe member is important. Learn something new about these incredible people.
Story time with NP_MSN: Chapter 1
Earlier this summer, it struck me that we don’t spend enough time sharing your stories with each other. We show up, we chat, we run, we hug, and then most of us part ways until the next workout. We get to know a lot of faces and names, but there is only so much you can learn about a person and why they are part of this crazy movement while you’re doing a hoistie or running up a hill with them. Everyone show
