Being Weather Proof

Winter is coming. Usually these words instill a deep fear in me. I am not going to lie. I am a summer girl 100 per cent. Give me 30 degree heat and patios. I tolerate fall because it’s beautiful running temperature, the leaves are pretty and I like big comfy sweaters (jury still out on pumpkin spice). But winter? 8 year old me loved making snow forts, sledding, skiing in – 30 degree weather. Almost 30 year old me (AHHH) still loves snow forts but more in 20 degree weather. Anyways this past week really really really stoked me for winter. It was the first colder day of the season, it was rainy and you guys SHOWED UP !! Not just in presence but in effort. And the best is that I even had someone ask suggestions for what to wear when it does become colder which is amazing !!!! Because yes we are weatherproof and trust me you look and feel bad ass burpeeing in -30 snowstorms. And secret – it’s a lot of fun. read more

Taper Craze

It’s “fall”! Race season has begun and I for one am excited/terrified/anxious/PUMPED . If you are like me you go through every single emotion and descend into what is known as taper craziness. As your nerves start amping up and you start going down in mileage, that somehow becomes weird and you feel like you aren’t doing what you need to do. YOu start over analyzing everything. You want to eat EVERYTHING (ok that’s me all the time). Brain mush, you start not making sense (ok also me all the time). Sleep is erratic. I am moody AF. All of sudden everything feels a bit achey, and those aches become ACHES, do I have plantar fasciitis????! Basically going into running withdrawl. How do you conquer this craze??? Hopefully this helps any of those racing soon and even for our non-runners it hopefully helps for any sort of big goal day – crossfit comp, big presentation, date with your mad crush. read more

104 Wednesdays Later

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YYZ !!!!

We have had yet another incredible year, so just want to take a sec to reflect on some pretty special moments. Tbt if you will.

  • Many races were conquered – Tough mudder, Waterfront 10K, Sportinglife, several Boston BQs !!!(Boston 2018 NP yyz is coming backkk!)
  • Team shorts survived another winter. And as always we proved we are #weatherproof

  • I finally got the hang of y’all good. You guys tolerated my 90s hit remixes and Sam’s British random sounds.

  • Introduction to the Captain Crunch Award. Recognizing your fellow tribies and how much you influence each other !!!

  •  Said Goodbye to some beautiful souls, said hello to many wonderful new faces.

  • PR socials took off! Pursuit, hitting some Alligators, drank a “few” beers. Got to know each other more outside the Loma. Thank you so so so much to Eric, Kelly and Krizka who make these happen each month! We appreciate your time and dedication and all the fun ideas! Can’t wait for the next year’s adventures !!! Give these guys an extra tight hug next week!!! xoxoxoxo
  • Cereal

  • Conquered NP Summit in Boston !!!  You guys conquered an extremely challenging course (which no one got lost YAY), made new friends, took on the Harvard stadium, and partied among-st light up swings (only thing that didn’t get conquered was the lobster roll I never got 🙁 )

  •  I just really like this pic

  • Took over the NorthFace Face Endurance Challenge at Blue mountain again !!

Captain Crunch

Dear World, we accept the fact that we sacrifice a whole Wednesday morning doing burpees. People think we’re crazy to do this us. People often ask who we are. You see us as you want to see us – in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a morning person… read more

Just Takes One

PR day stands as the marking of a month ended, and beginning of a new one. June was a great month for NP YYZ. Highlighted of course by Summit 5, you conquered a tough tough course, the Harvard stairs, mingled with new friends from all over the world, Sam didn’t get a sunburn in his 50k expedition – such a success! Only again for a bunch of you to conquer more races including MEC, waterfront 10k (and lots of RunBeerTOs which really is the true race am I right ???!!). read more

Springing PRs

Spring time is the time for especially runners to start seeing the fruits of our labour. Race season is just beginning, and the PRs are rolling in. So first I want to start with big congrats to those who raced some of their first races of the season this weekend !!! As NPers the beginning of the month, PR day, is the same milestone. Time to see that all the hard work you have been dong over the last month is paying off. From what I hear, this past week was bursting with them !!!! read more

Fog-Leg Burner-Apocalypse

Hi Team !!! It is almost March. Shorts are actually a reality not just #teamshorts (which scares me slightly as much as I enjoy it). We are starting to see each other as more then just silhouettes. My photos are starting to actually look like faces instead of blurs. And race season is upon us !

Post Ice Storm Countdowns

This week we had it all, snowstorms, icestorms, I think the sun peeped out for 10 min Wednesday afternoon. Winter is hard. But this week you guys showed that we really are #weatherproof. Not only did you all show up on the slick grounds Wednesday morning, but seeing you running in the snowstorms of this weekend really made me so proud! Embracing any weather is really what we are all about, and once you get out you now know that you can make fun of any situation! #justshowingup is easy !! Next time the weather looks it might not be going exactly how you want, invite a friend to join because we all know that “misery” loves company, especially burpees, they LOVE company. read more

Onesie Wednesday Burpee Party

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • ONESIES !!!!!!!!
  • BUFFS ARE HERE !!!!!!!!
  • BON VOYAGE FRANK !!!!!!

The Workout:

One of my personal fav workouts. Each bag has a task with a letter on it, once you complete the task – could be burpees, hoistees, stairs etc, you move on to the next letter. In the end you plank and unscramble the letters! We did this one back in November and it was a bit of a struggle to finish. This time around you guys had me scrambling to add extra little tasks to the paper !!! AND we added a sally up. Just goes to show you how strong you all are becoming! PR day is next week so hopefully you’ll all see the difference there too !!! ALSO all done in a ONESIE !! Did you guys feel the extra range in motion? We had quite the variety ! Thank you for gloriously taking on the extra factor/fun for morning ! You guys all looked fabulously cosy !!!!! read more
