Free Fitness Movement. All you need to do is show up!
Have you ever thought about the power of a high five? Yeah, me neither. But today’s workout had me thinking about it. We asked y’all to make sure to do one thing as you passed each other on the top of the levees today – high five and motivate each other. And now, while I often make grand requests like this, everyone typically starts off listening but the energy fades as the exhaustion of the workout kicks in… but not today.
3 years of #freefitness in NOLA.
That’s 265 workouts where the tribe showed up. 265 mornings where we rose before the sun, hugged friends and strangers, and screamed “FUCK YEAH” or “YEAH YOU RIGHT” at the top of our lungs.
We owe a lot to Preston, Cameron, Kate and Will for putting their blood, sweat and (maybe) tears into bringing this movement to our little town. Without them, we’d probably be a little more round, a little more rested, and a lot more lonely. But thanks to them, we have our tribe; we have our family.
Hey Lou & Will, I thought you should know that I’m fine on my own. I don’t miss you at all. And while I’m completely lying through the screen right now, the fact of the matter is that our tribe is relentless and trusting; they respect each other and us; they know to be extra quiet because no one wants to hear me try and scream that loudly; and holy shit, they know how to kick ass. While we missed the hell out of y’all this morning, we still showed up and pushed ourselves (ok, let’s be honest – they worked out hard, I just took pictures and told them they looked good).
Today was a special day. However, it wasn’t because we had a kickass workout, or because the rain decided to not #justshowup, or even because we did a lot of stairs. No, today was a special day because it was Will Booher’s last workout as a co-leader of NP NOLA.
