August Rush (LAX)

PR day. A day where we race our yesterdays up and down some hills for a 5k. PR day is the only time you are ever measured during a workout. It doesn’t matter if you finish first, middle of the pack, or last, because you are only racing against your former times. Getting a new PR has always been a reward on its own, but we’re changing the game. We’ll be using this high tech spreadsheet to keep track of our PR day times. You are responsible for updating your time each month. The new prize for a PR, besides bragging rights, is a free salad from Sweetgreen!

5:30 workouts are getting darker again, and soon it’ll be headlamp time of year. Barreling down the steep winding hill of PR day is scary enough in the light, but brings a whole new element when you can’t see. I don’t know about you, but that fear excited me, and also distracted me from the uphill climb that was just around the corner. Remember to put your times in here because if you don’t then you aren’t eligible for delicious salad.

Do Good, LA

Random Fact: There is a surprise for Maggie at the 9/15 workout which will be somewhere in Santa Monica. I refuse to tell her what it is, and she is going crazy. She had a dream about it. Also, the name Texas, based on the Caddo word tejas meaning “friends” or “allies”, was applied by the Spanish to the Caddo themselves and to the region of their settlement in East Texas.
