If you’ve been so dialed into your workouts that you haven’t noticed the stadium, our playground, is under construction.
Which means there’s some extra bodies roaming around early in the morning with us. Now if you think like me, here’s a PRIME chance to…recruit, right?!
Early risers? Check.
Movers? Check.
They’re gunna be at Harvard Stadium already anyways, right?…. Check?
Well I caught a glimpse of a few of them ascending the stairs into the stadium and mouth the words “What The F*CK?!”
So I hustled my butt over there to explain the phenomenon that was in front of them. Like tourists on a safari they were in awe. After giving the whole pitch one of them said,
“Not a bad pay day for a rainy day…”
“Right?! Some morning fitness, a caffeine-free explosion of energy and an all-naturale shower?! Oh. Waaaaaait. You ACTUALLY mean $$?! Uhhhh yeah, this is free. We don’t charge…”
They looked perplexed? Why would we show up in the rain — in these shitty conditions to be outside and run stairs? For free? Couldn’t we just come back on a nicer day?
NICER? What do you mean?! Today’s perfect! Rain Days are the best.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is, no, we couldn’t just show up on a ‘nicer’ day. It’s easy to forget that this is a weird and utterly magical movement. We get so immersed in the hustle and bustle of it that when we see someones confusion with the whole thing, its a jolt back into reality.
After that comment, I took a look up at this…

You don’t need to board an airplane or jump out of a helicopter to places where they stamp your passports or exchange your currency to find an adventure. In fact, you really don’t even have to leave your city. Now if you’re saying I’ve lived in Boston for 68 years… first off, I’m going to call your bluff. Second, take a look around — adventures doesn’t have to require new places, or new faces, they could just be new experiences in an familiar space.
Well this morning was one of those adventures, for me. Those that woke up to the sound of rain spitting on the pavement and still decided to venture out to the project, found that by section 19 they were praying for that rain to return. This morning had to be the most humid, sticky PR days we’ve ever had in October. That rain was a breathe of fresh air. It was refreshing. It was awesome. It was memorable. The photos from today capture this exact essence. When, at about 6:55 am, the flood lights fired up and the rain started coming down, the tribe turned it on. This mornings adventure will be forever captured. If you’re one of this weeks 2 for 2 folks, we’ve had some pretty epic adventures exploring both new and familiar spaces in this city. We’ve got one more left this week. Let make it 3 for 3, or 2 for 3 or even 1 for 3, wherever you’re at just don’t miss out.
