To my dearest NP humans
I am very pleased to say
I’ve been asked to write a guest blog
And share it with you today
(In case you aren’t too sure
About that silly picture up there
It’s because we climbed a pyramid
So sliding down it seemed only fair)
Before going any further
I suppose I should come clean
This is Alfie the Goodest Boy
(the most handsome one you’ve seen)
It was a great many years ago
When I started composing this rhyme
Or maybe it was yesterday?
I really have no concept of time
All I know is that each Wednesday
The air feels different in our home
Mom says you can’t find anything like it
No matter how far you may roam
I can’t say I understand it
The whole thing seems bizarre
She does lunges, squats, and sometimes
She’ll just jump and say, ‘I’m a star!’
Now I’m not here to judge
Your form, your reps, or pace
Mom says the important thing
Is that this is a safe space
Where everyone can come together
To move in every sort of way
And in the spirit of inclusivity
If a cat came, that would be okay
So whether we see you every week
Or simply once in a while
Anytime you join us
You’ll be greeted with a smile
And for those who are still waiting
Until we’re face to face…
Or those who somehow manage
To do burnouts with such grace…
For those with painted shirts
And for the ones without any tags…
For those who show they’re there for you
With just one tail wag…
To all our members, present and past
Who keep coming back for more…
For those we have yet to meet
And always keep an open door…
To all of you, we want to say
How much we hold you dear
And share a weekly reminder
That we’re heckin’ glad you’re here
Now my paws are getting tired
Just one more thing before I doze
(writing gets pretty tough
without thumbs that can oppose)
Looking back on this past year or so
It has been quite a ride
So please join as us we enter this month
With a whole lot of extra pride!
