The view this morning was as beautiful as your spirits as you powered through those partner exercises and flew around the Observatory. 10 Bojans are no easy feat for anyone, and everyone pushed themselves and cheered on each other with their remaining breath until the clock ran out. Then just in case that wasn’t hard enough, we threw a pretty mean burnout at you with questionable regards for safety (#safetythird), banking on the fact that everyone has signed waivers and that you guys can handle a little danger. Not only did you all stampede down and up that trail faster than the herd of wildebeest from The Lion King, but you broke no bones that weren’t broken already. I call that a success!!!!!

My favorite part of this morning though was seeing the happiness we brought to the people around us (maybe except for the guy who wore noise-canceling headphones, but at least he came prepared). During the 5:30 workout I had a discussion with the security guards who pointed out three people to me and told me we had made them upset and interrupted their morning. The people they pointed at immediately approached me and the security guards. “What group is this?” they asked me. “Is it free? Can we join? Promise you’ll be here next week? You guys are so awesome!” I shared my view with the security guards that November Project enhances the areas we go to because we bring positive energy to those around us. When they started to approach me during the 6:30 workout, they were cut off by two elderly men telling me what a wonderful group of people we are, and suddenly the security guards decided they didn’t need to tell me whatever they had been coming over to say. It’s an uphill battle, tribe. Large groups of people are threatening to many people, especially those with some authority. But the proof is in the dance party we had with strangers after the workout was over – we bring happiness to each other, and it doesn’t just stop with us. No one could look me in the eye this morning and tell me that we were not a bunch of freaking sunshines doing a wonderful thing. As long as we stick true to that and know that about ourselves, it’s undeniable. Maybe next time those security guards will want to take a run through our cheer tunnel!

If you weren’t at the workout this morning, you may have missed the news that our beloved Steve Selnick is leaving us for the Bay Area sometime in the upcoming months, and will be stepping down as co-leader at the end of April. I draw your attention to this because whether you’re new to NP or have been here for years, you know what a crucial member Steve is in our tribe and our co-leadership and how much he has done to build this tribe up in the two years he has led it. Each and every one of us owes it to him to #justshowup to these April workouts and shower him with love and appreciation. In the words of the great man himself, “Let’s make April a party!!!!!”
I adore all of you people. I really, really do.
DO GOOD, LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
