Quitters Can Be Choosers – Need a Resolution Reset?

Happy Quitter’s Day to those who celebrate

Is it time to throw in the towel?

Did you know that the second Friday in January is known as Quitters Day? It’s the day that most people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. But no need to worry because Quitters CAN be choosers!! Maybe all you need is a re-set on those goals. Maybe you just need to try something new.

So, we present to you . . . Our Resolutions Workout!! It’s a staple of our Holiday Layover and it’s a great go-to whenever you need a bit of a reset.

Now, without further ado. . .

The Workout

We like goals, what can we say?

This workout is 2 rounds that last for 10 minutes each. Each round represents a resolution. Round 1 is to get stronger, Round 2 is to get faster. The rounds are in a countdown style because what good is a resolution without a countdown?

Here’s what that means. We’ve got moves set up in pairs. You’ll do the first pair for 4 minutes, the next pair for 3 minutes, the next pair for 2 minutes and the final minute will be 1 bad ass power move.

See? Easy. So, are you ready for the work? Let’s Goooooo!!

Round 1 – Get Stronger

Yeah, you’re stronger than that

This round focuses on strength. You’ll have a Cardio move paired with a strength move. You’ll do the cardio move (aka the FIRST move) for 20 reps and then you’ll do the strength move (aka the SECOND move) for 10 reps. So, you’ll switch back and forth between the 2 moves until you run out of time and need to move on to the next move.

See? Super easy. So, here we go. . . Round 1

4 minutes – 20 reps High Knees/10 reps Plank Shoulder Taps
3 minutes – 20 reps Butt Kicks/10 reps Rower Sit Ups
2 minutes – 20 reps Fast Feet/10 reps Step Ups
1 minute Plank

BREAK!!!!

Nice work! Grab a drink of water, and towel off that sweat and get ready for round 2!

Round 2 – Get Faster!!!

time flies, amirite?

Okay! So for this round, we’re focusing on speed. There are fewer reps so that you can get a little faster between moves. We’re also going to be changing up the strength moves, but keeping the cardio moves the same. Let’s focus on those quick transitions, people!!! Get ready, because we’re going to be doing 10 reps of our cardio move and 5 reps of our strength move.

Ready? Set? Let’s GOOOOOOO!

4 minutes – 10 reps High Knees/5 reps Push Ups
3 minutes – 10 reps Butt Kicks/5 reps Leg Raises
2 minutes – 10 reps Fast Feet/5 reps Heel Taps
1 minute – Burpees!!

Ready for the Burnout??

And now it’s time for the Burnout and with that we’ve got one more resolution. . .to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves!! So let’s stretch it out!!!

Ready for a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig stretch?

Raise your hand if you don’t usually stretch after a workout (raises hand). Yeah, we are definitely guilty of that too. Adding a quick 5-minute stretch routine at the end of a workout can really make a difference in recovery. Check out this great guided stretching routine
