Yeah, it was THAT kind of morning.
That bit of light drizzle, with -3C temps made for a really slick hill.
It’s not like it was the first time that has happened to us… we know what to do.
Slide down the hill… any way you can get down. That’s what we do.

I thought I’d share something that I’ve been working on over the past 6-8 months.
I’m trying to truly understand what my gifts are as a human being. Not what my strengths are or what I’m skilled at. But what I’m naturally gifted at… the things that are natural to me. Like breathing. You just do it and you don’t even think about it.
You know when you come across someone who is amazing at something and it seems to just comes really easy to them? THAT’S the natural gift that I’m talking about.
I started down two similar yet different paths. One is called Unique Abilities. The other is called Leader’s Gift. Both help one uncover their true gifts by taking you through a series of exercises. These exercises are not easy. I’ve done them. It requires a lot of introspection which can be tedious and can lead to indecisiveness about yourself.
Here’s an easy framework for understanding your unique ability:

At this stage in life, I do my very best to stay away from things that I’m incompetent at as well as the things I’m just competent at. I can delegate those things or hire someone to help.
I’d rather be “in” the things I have a unique ability for. Those are the things I gain energy from where times just seems to go.
I’m still in this work but I’ve gotten a lot closer to narrowing in one the few things are are my unique abilities and have also crafted my Leader’s Gift statement. It’s still a work in progress but it’s starting to resonate. Maybe I’ll be brave enough one day to write it on the effing internet!
Anyhow, if this is helpful to you, maybe you’d also be interested in this article which gives a bit more detail around how to uncover your unique ability- click here. And, if you REALLY care about this, you can get the Unique Abilities book + workbook and be a student for a bit. Google it.
Have a great weekend friends!
And yay to Paulette. #positivityawardrecipient
