(non)sunrise 6k

Today was special for a few reasons.

First…

It was my first time running with Rob ahead of you all showing up to go and place the 3k marker (I think THIS is my last first). The last two times we had a sunrise 6k, I was mah-jorly injured with a herniated disc and wasn’t able to have this time with just Rob and I. Today was different. We met at “the corner” at 5am and started out to measure the 3k turnaround point. As you know, it was dark. Really dark. I’m glad we did that together. It was nice to have that time together to chat about the weekend and commiserate on our almost 4am wakeup call the day after Thanksgiving!! This also brought about a renewed sense of admiration for our legacy co-leaders, Jen, Nadim, and Andrew. I didn’t realize that they met at 5am to do exactly what we did today until I asked Nadim this afternoon! I have these moments often… admiration for their 7 years leading us all.

Second…

So many of you showed up to work off that Thanksgiving meal. It seems like this was very good fuel for the many speedies we saw and cheered on in the early hours. #justshowup #evenafteragiantmeal

Third…

We saw faces of pride for many big accomplishment this morning. Way. To. Crush. It. Seriously, it’s always incredible to see us all push ourselves to complete this goal and to do so crushing that clock! I even heard a comment that a PR was had today! I’m sure that happened more than once too.

Thanks for bringing such joy and smiles before the sun joined us today. It really was a special morning.

Hope you’re enjoying some leftovers or a second giant meal today!
