Today’s blog has a lot of detail and updates for our community so let’s just jump right into it:
- The 2020 Pulse Check survey will close at the end of this month – if you have not yet done so please contribute your thoughts here.
- #Togetherbutapart is the new slogan we are using to highlight getting back to the roots of what NP is while not being able to meet in-person (and while also not waiting for “this” to be over…it might be awhile). What does this mean?
- The biggest shift is not hosting the workouts over zoom. We will be giving you workouts to test your #weatherproof self.
- We want to connect with you more regularly so on Mondays and Wednesdays click the link in our bio at 6:35am for some quick news and announcements – whether you’ve done the workout or are just rolling out of bed we still want to see your face.
- Let’s get social! On Fridays at 6:35am (still hop on even if you are a few mins late) once you’ve gotten somewhere warm click the same link and join us for coffee and a chat – will be keeping the line open for 20mins. Big groups of people on Zoom can be intimidating and hard to manage so we will break people up into smaller virtual groups to chat and catch up! It’s Halloween this weekend so yes I will join Friday’s call while in costume – anyone else?
- Lazina and I as new co-leaders are finding ways of working together and getting to know each other better than before. Next week’s blog will be from both Lazina and I, talking and being transparent about the actions we are and will be taking.
- I want to share some words that were created for a global meeting of co-leaders last week around what NP is and isn’t. In the conversation with our global NP leaders we collectively believe that NP is a: free fitness community that influences positive change. This change is realized by doing things like striving to be more inclusive, engaging with our community, engaging in social justice, and striving to be inclusive. NP is not a social justice organization and based on where, when and what we do (fitness/fun/community) we are inherently not 100% inclusive. Whatever NP is to you, as community members we adhere to our community agreements as norms that we expect anyone who shows up to agree to abide by and operate under. POP QUIZ: Do you know what these are? Can you name any of the titles or themes without looking?
- This week, Virtual NPsummit2020 is live! I truly encourage you to watch the videos on social identities (an activity that we did at the 2019 Meeting of the Minds, with co-leaders to explore our social identities, and further discussions around their impact) and the video conversation with Knox Robinson (a black runner and leader of Black Roses NYC who sits down to discuss the running community and the similarities and differences between November Project and Black Roses NYC). More details are in the link like a Strava challenge, an ask to run on Sat. (Oct 31st), and some custom knockarounds. We’ll share more details over our social pages as they become available.
You made it to the end of the blog! I know that was a lot of content and while there is more to talk about, we will pick up on all of these important topics in the next one. As Lazina said last week “the future is bright and exciting.” I’m so happy that you are along for the ride.
Keep being awesome,
Rob
