Kick Monday in the Face (BOS)

I know some badass human beings who are tough, strong, fierce, hard core, and just really good. And even those people wake up on mornings like today in Boston–cold enough to be super undesirable to go outside, raining, not cold enough to make beautiful, fun snow, and overall shitty–and even they don’t want to do it. They don’t want to brave the elements. They don’t want to battle through the wind, rain, cold, puddles, wet feet, wet faces, wet bodies, just to get to the workout. And let’s not even think about if the co-leaders make you do full-body to the ground burpees, or a thousand pushups, or some other hand-freezing, misery-inducing movement. Even the toughest can stare right at those conditions…think about it just long enough…and decide to not do that.

I also know some badass human beings who are tough, strong, fierce, hard core, and just really good. Who navigated all the shitty shit described above, and took the risk to show up to November Project, with all its February Frost Fit fun, (in collaboration with the Esplanade Association) and get the wet and wild workout that we offered. Included in the partner workout that had a whole bunch of running, some brutal (but awesome) wall-sitting and squat-jumping, were donkey kicks. That movement that is so very athletic and requires strength, coordination, stability, and mobility–and because it’s called donkey kicks, it makes you feel like you’re 5 years old and playing around on the floor pretending to be animals. It’s silly, and a weird movement. And just like showing up for today, which is a pain-in-the-ass Monday, if you show the heck up for those donkey kicks with your whole body and soul–you might actually accomplish a mighty task–to both literally and figuratively kick Monday in the face and show it who’s boss.

Take a second today, wherever you are, whether you showed up to the Esplanade for our workout this morning or you didn’t, and donkey kick the shit out of today. You got this. Winter isn’t over, it’s weird and cold and kind of the worst lately…but you got this. We’ll be at the stadium on Wednesday 5:30 & 6:30am. We’ll be running hills on Friday 6:30am (and WOahMAN at 5am). And we’ll be back at the Esplanade next monday at 6:30am for another Frost Fit/November Project workout right here at the Esplanade workout station.

Keep changing the world.
