A few things happened this morning that truly made my day.
As I was leaving the workout, I was waiting at the stop sign with a SCHOOL BUS! That’s right. A school bus full of children (teens) came to the workout today. And while we might take that for granted, let’s try and figure out everything that needed to take place for that to happen. You see, it’s not as simple as trying as hard as you can to wake up your teenage son or daughter and dragging them with you to NP. This required a lot more effort from a lot more people. For EACH of the students that came, they had to wake up early and get to school, likely with the help of their parents on both ends. Then, their teacher, who, by the way had to get up extra early as well to make it to work. Then, the students loaded the bus, and the teacher drove this bus to the workout. There are a lot of moving parts there to make that all happen. It’s impressive to think about some of the things everyone does, and not just this class, to make it to November Project in the morning.
On a side note, we had our first visitor from Buffalo. Again, that might seem insignificant to you, but I find that Buffalo is USA’s version of Edmonton. Follow NP Buffalo for awhile and tell me I’m wrong.
In a completely unrelated note, at the end of my workday, I felt something in the chest pocket of my shirt. What could it be? Well, I reached in… and realized that it was nothing other than cookie crumbs. Yup. Crumbs from one of my favourite things in the world, a pocket cookie. The disturbing thing was that I don’t remember wearing this shirt in awhile. Even more disturbing, I clearly hadn’t washed it after I wore it last time. Oh well.
Monday – We’ll be at Alex Decoteau Park. 6am!
