I got reminded of something this morning at good old Harvard Stadium. It was an important reminder about this bigger November Project Tribe. It happened when I walked down underneath the stadium for the Newbie meeting. We went around the circle and shared our names and where we’re from and we learned that it was a full-on Newbie meeting for a few kids in the group–they had never been to NP anywhere. (Two of them just moved to Boston!) But for about half of the group, they were new to Boston, but NOT new to NP. They were coming from other NP cities–traveling for holidays, visiting this area, and represented strongly by just showing up.
Then when I went upstairs and saw handfuls of others who come to Boston from time to time…everyone from Darren –long time consistent Boston tribe member who is traveling the world with his wife and they have become temporary tribe members of every tribe they can find ( in all the places they land–to Jake, who leads the NP_London tribe.
People are coming home, coming to visit, but they’re showing up to this extension of what is their home-tribe family. Sure the family from Edmonton calls Edmonton (errr…NP_Canada) home, but they knew they had family here today. They were taking selfies and yelling out #FuckYeah with the rest of us. Of course the people from NP_DC and NP_SF love their hometown co-leaders like Maria in DC and Laura in SF* but the love was strong here too.
Which means…
wherever we go, whichever tribe we #traverbal to, whichever city’s family we show up to, we know we’re home. We know we have a place to go that welcomes us, hugs (or high 5s) us, and that kicks our fitness-loving ass.
It’s important to remember. Both at this time of year when family of origin can be awesome or agonizing, and also all year ’round when it just feels good to know you have a tribe all around the whole wide world you can call family.**
To all the visitors, we’re glad you’re here. To all the #mothership homelanders, we’re glad you’re here too, to make this place feel like home.
The tribe is freaking awesome.
REMEMBER! NP happens #nomatterwhat! We will be at Summit Ave for hills on Friday, we WILL have a workout on Monday 12/25, and next Wednesday will be #PRday at the stadium.
*ok ok, they love Steve & Jake and Paddy & Zip too
**And the NP world will get a little bigger next Wednesday when I will be handing a Positivity Award and NP stencils to a brand new tribe in Grand Rapids, MI. Tribe #45, the former @carpediem_GR, welcome to the family!

I went to @november project Denver twice this month, and they could not have been warmer. And that’s saying something for a city that shivers in December. Thank you, Woody and 5280 tribe.
