Saudade [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • This week was PR day (2 versions) – the tribe crushed it once again!
  • Positivity Award is MIA. Reward given to person that finds it 🙂
  • Positivity Award was “handed” anyway to our favourite lift and kickass Triathlete Gilla! So well deserved. Thanks for being here every week…
  • Tribe is amazing….you all know this!
  • Save the date: NP Montreal Holiday bash coming mid-December. Date TBD

“Saudade” is beautiful word of Portuguese origin that evokes a sense of incompleteness. A deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never return. One English translation of the word is missingness, although it might not convey the feeling of deep emotion attached to the word “saudade”. Stronger forms of saudade might be felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown, such as a Positivity Award.

You read it right; the Montréal QC Positivity Award has gone MIA. Its whereabouts are unknown which brings sad and happy feelings all at once; Sadness from missing the actual Award that we cherished and loved and Happiness for having experienced the love for this simple Oar Handle. Saudade is the feeling we are experiencing today.

This being said, it did not stop us from “hand out” the award to one of the most amazing human beings we know: Gilla Geiger. An established architect, mom, and triathlete that never misses a workout (maybe a few but not by choice). She is one of the first 12 that showed up at our very first workout 1 year ago and we could always count on Gilla being there and working out with us. She is also very valuable since she is a lift for a good number of tribe members 😉 on a weekly basis, so without her, our tribe would be much smaller 🙂 Thanks again Gilla for being such a wonderful and positive person! We love you.

The holidays are quickly approaching and as discussed this morning, we would love to be able to celebrate this past year with all of you. Hence, we are planning a holiday bash in the coming weeks (tentative week of December 9th, 2017). This would be an opportunity to spend some time together not wearing tights and technical tank tops. An informal dinner with drinks would be the setting. Please save the date, we will confirm the date soon through social media. We hope to see all of you.

Always keep a smile on your face Montréal and stay safe!
