It’s not easy to get up for a November Project workout.
Your bed always seems more inviting just as you’re about to leave it. Just two more minutes, please. You have a million things to do today, and somehow they seem like they’ll get done more quickly if you were a bit more rested. You’re sore from sitting at a desk all day, sore from a track workout the evening before, sore from exhaustion. It’s not easy.
Your kids are still asleep but you know – even though you love them like crazy – just how much they’re going to tire you out today; the youngest one is sick and you’re starting to feel a tickle in your throat. Maybe I should rest so I don’t get sick too. You already have to take her to the doctor today to find out if it’s the flu, and you don’t want to have to see an internist on top of the pediatrician. It’s not easy.
You’re still training for that race you signed up for when things were warm and easy. Just two more weeks. You’re starting to get antsy with your running schedule. You need a break. And it will come, but first you have to finish what you set out to do. It’s not easy.
That coworker is really starting to be a little much, and it’s easy to feel like you can just snap back because I’m stressed too and if we’d both just do our jobs, maybe we wouldn’t get on each other’s nerves. But each day you choose to close your mouth, to do your own work, and to put a smile on your face, treating that coworker with love and respect. It’s not easy.
Bills need to be paid. Your kids’ sports need to be played. Your bed needs to be made. It’s not easy.
Nothing is ever easy. And that’s the beauty of it.
Because you’ll wake up, one hard decision later, having experienced something you had to fight for. Never give up. Never, ever give up. Never. Give. Up.
See you on Wednesday.
