Why I joined November Project – Brad

Heading into the GLOW RUN this Friday, we wanted to share a few stories from tribe members.
This is Brad’s story:

I was invited to November Project by a friend, LeeAnn. When i heard what it was, I heard a workout group. What I really heard was it’s farther away than what I wanted to travel to go to get a good workout in. So, I didn’t go. Months went by and I was feeling lonely and was looking for a good community of people again to work out with and I reached back out LeeAnn and got the details of when “NP” does their workouts. Wednesdays at 6:28 in the river north area and 6:00 am on Fridays at the Bean in downtown Chicago.

I really had no idea what to expect but I had built up my own expectations. I thought it would be a group of people doing a workout. Go there, get sweaty, try to have some fun and go home. What I discovered though was something completely different. Yes, we got sweaty but what I didn’t expect was the smiling faces and the “we don’t shake hands. We hug to say good morning!” I was hooked. I knew any organization that starts out with that much positivity and human connection it was going to be great.

Each workout starts out with an intro to all the new people who show up. They introduce themselves to the group and we as a group welcome them to the organization. Then we do this crazy thing called the Bounce. The leader for the day starts bouncing and then so does the group all while we are repeating ridiculous things they say just to have some fun. We continue bouncing and getting closer and closer to each other until we are squeezed in like a bunch of smiley face balloons about to pop full of joy. We end with FUCK YA I AM GOOD!

Hugs are given immediately after the bounce and the workout then starts. Everyone is pumped up and ready to get a work out in. The workouts vary each week but they are a mixture of running, crazy fun partner exercises, and most exercises are done in such a way where you forget you are working out. OH, and it’s all free. Each week there are between 30-100 people who show up for this crazy fun work out. It’s filled with fun, positive, people who enjoy a fun hard work out. The kind of people I like to be around. The type of people you get excited to be around. Heck, maybe I’ll even meet the woman of my dreams there.

November Project was started just as a way to keep a workout going and it’s spread around the country. If you’re reading this and you’ve been lonely like me and are looking for a fun, positive, incredible workout come check us out on Wednesdays and Fridays. You’ll leave sweaty and loved.
