Throughout our lives we have all run straight into walls. Some higher than others, these walls are meant to slow us down, block us from accomplishing goals, and derail us from our mission. But, due to perseverance and a ‘take no prisoners’ attitude, we somehow climb our way over those walls. And we keep on climbing.
The North Face has generously donated 1 million dollars to the Trust for Public Land to continue building climbing walls around the country, particularly in underserved communities, in order to unite these towns and cities through sport. November Project has a similar goal and this morning you demonstrated that the hills of Alta Plaza park are just 3 more obstacles for you to overcome. In the words of Zip, “Collecting these rubber bands just might be the highlight of your day.” Depressing, Zip. Kind of depressing.
This morning Ryan Dooster III and Phil the 1st took home 2 new chalk bags to climb with. Even if they don’t ever climb or have no idea what they are doing, they now look the part, which we all know is 75% of it.
The other big winner of the day was Raena (not Cat) who took home the O’Meara Helmet for setting high goals and working her ass off to achieve them. Emma rattled off about 18 races that Raena has completed in the last 2 months, one being a casual Boston Marathon Qualifier…the first marathon she ever ran. Emma then forced Raena’s head into the youth sized helmet and since she couldn’t get it off, she ran all the way home in it.
