  • Dom wins the Positivity Award
  • Recruiting Challenge starts next Wednesday
  • Workout on Friday and every Friday at the Legislative Building

Today we have a guest blog by our very own Kristjana. Before we get into that, we’d like to give a shout out to Dominique Daoust, the Positivity Award winner today. She’s been deserving of it for quite some time, and the tribe knows it. Which is why she’s already won the Shabooya twice, thus prolonging her quest to win the PA. Dom shows up every week with a sly grin on her face, a big hug, a grassroots tagged shirt, and a determination to be at the front of the pack at every workout. She’s not from Winnipeg, she’s from Ottawa, and she has embraced the Winnipeg life since moving here. She shows up to the NP social events and the extra workouts, and she’s always there for her NP friends. She’s also really fast, repping the tribe at races. Congrats Dom, keep crushing.

Next week, the NP YWG Recruiting Challenge begins. Here’s how it works; tell someone new to come, and when they come and sign the waiver, they will write down that they were recruited by you (first and last name). At the end of the month, we tally it up, and the winner gets a sweet prize. During this month, we’d like to ask all of you core members (anyone coming longer than a few months) to go out of your way to talk to these newbies, make them feel welcome, show them what the NP vibe is all about. We have faith in you, so do it!

Now we let Kristjana take it away.

GUEST BLOG:

Hey! Kristjana here. I’m a proud member of #teamtall and I’m that girl who probably talks too much during our weekly workout (and apparently during our morning bounce… sorry Derek.)

Today I celebrated my one year anniversary with November Project! It’s crazy how much my life has changed since that first day. Funny enough it took me almost 10 months to get to my first November Project workout. I had seen pictures the previous summer on Facebook and thought it looked cool, but didn’t think too much of it. Throughout the fall I had kept an eye on it, and by December I was obsessed with the idea. But I still didn’t go. Why? I don’t know. I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect, and whether I could handle it, and the fear of the unknown kept me away. I would casually bring it up with my two friends who did go (hello Michael and Gaston) trying to get more information out of them. I still was a chicken and watched from afar.

Come April 25, 2015. Gaston and I talked about it at our work meeting. He says I should come Wednesday. I say yes. We don’t talk about it again.

Now it’s April 26th– 11:00pm. Gaston texts me and asks if I’m coming. It’s more like spamming me with messages. I say yes. Oh my. Here we go.

Let’s just say I showed up, chugged the Koolaid, and the rest is history.

Now, have you ever heard of the quote, ”It’s not who you want to spend Friday night with, it’s who you want to spend all day Saturday with”?

I’d like to challenge it. I really think it’s about who you want to wake up and workout at 6:14am with. Every time I tell someone about November Project, 97.5% of the time they exclaim how early it is and how they probably wouldn’t be able to do it.

*Insert my favorite quote here from Brogan and Bojan about how morning people do not exist.*

I’m 100% not a morning person. I love sleep and on a normal day will wait for the absolute last minute to get out of bed. But I’ll jump out of bed (okay well maybe I still wait for the absolute last minute to jump out of bed) on Wednesdays because I’m so excited.

And I’m not jumping because I can’t wait to do hoisties until my legs feel like they are going to fall off. Or because I can’t wait to lunge to St. Boniface (although I do enjoy both things). I’m jumping because I can’t wait to see my favorite people (aka you guys). You crazy people who are willing to get up and work out at outrageous times and and do weird bounces.

1 year ago I knew one person at the workout. Today I knew everyone. (Okay not actually but I wish.) Today I was surrounded by people who I absolutely adore and who inspire me on a daily basis.

These strangers have turned into people who I not only work out every Wednesday (and now Friday (!!!) with but:

  • run with
  • Saikel with
  • Go for drinks with
  • Celebrate my birthday with
  • Go to yoga with
  • Go to dinner with
  • Dance with
  • Study with
  • Communicate on all forms of social media with

Etc.

Basically, I want to spend all my spare time with my November Project family. But most of all, I want to workout with you at 6:14am. I’m grateful for every single person I have met along the way and I’m so glad you #justshowed up. K now I clearly need to wrap this up because I’m on my way to writing #npthebook version 2.0. Here is my cheesy love letter to you all, to November Project, and to everyone that makes this happen.

So if you’re like my former self and are following us but too nervous to come, please do. Please come. I promise the people you will find at 6:14am are the best on the market.

Guaranteed or your money back.
