Winter is not Coming (yet)

Wisconsin Notes:
-Winter is coming
-We’re going to Wisconsin! Join us!
-We did lots of stuff in lots of places
-Shabooya hand off from one legend to another

The mornings are getting cooler, the air is a little crisper, the sun is rising later.  It’s that time of year where teachers and students remark that they have ONLY two weeks of break left.  Dare I say it… Winter is Coming… ok, not quite yet, but summer is coming to a close.  And what a summer it’s been; the energy, the positivity, the hugs, the connections.  Tribe you have shown up again and again and that’s what I appreciates about ya.  But it’s not over yet, so let’s squeeze out every last drop of this summer time, shorts weather, sunny morning glory!  Keep showing up and keep pushing and we’ll see you every Wednesday from now until forever.

After a few weeks of having various areas of the Forks closed off because of Canada Games or Interstellar Rodeo we had FREE RANGE of the whole glorious area again and we took advantage! 8 deadly minutes of gauntlet and then 8 minutes of leg throw, followed by some lunging and sprinting on our fav bridge, and at the end we brought it back to the new WINNIPEG sign for a fire group photo! Great workout everyone, you’re awesome!

Junel handed the Shabooya off to Jess!  Jess is a badass and a powerhouse, she destroys Spartan Races all summer long, and ski races all winter long.  She is equally fast, strong and friendly.  The other day her husband Andrew told me Jess “had been taking it easy because of a sprained ankle, she had *only* done a Spartan, an ‘easy run’, played volleyball and ultimate that week.”  Needless to say Jess is a force of nature and we are lucky to have her as part of our tribe!

SAD NEWS! Today was Simon’s last workout (collective sigh, single tear, and heartbreak emoji from half the tribe).  Simon, I’m sorry we didn’t give you a NP send off today, I guess you’ll just have to come back and visit soon!  Simon has to leave Winnipeg because Derek and Jamie became collectively concerned that Simon would eclipse them as Hot Derek and Hot Jamie to become Hot Simon, so they banished him.  Kidding, sort of, but real talk Simon is heading to Thunder Bay to go to law school and we will miss his big smile and lovely heart (and I will miss watching his progression as a runner and how damn fast he’s getting!) Speedy Simon please keep posting to Strava and don’t forget about us here in Winnipeg!

Race Recap:
Last Friday was the Sunrise 6K and it was AWESOME! We had a huge crew out, the skies opened up right before the beginning of the race and we weathered a brief but torrential down pour, everyone pushed it HARD out there and some of us needed assistance standing at the end of the race. Thank you to Prairie Summit for being our North Face connection and enabling us to give out some sweet swag and thank you to everyone of you who came out!  If you were one of those fast runner, new to NP people who came out, THANK YOU for coming and making us up our speed game and PLEASE COME BACK SOON!

It’s OFFICIAL! We’re going to Madison, Wisconsin September 15-17 for Summit 5.MOO, to race the ESCA trail race! There’s still a few spots left so talk to me and I’ll get you on board!

I’ll see you all on Friday at the Ledge at 6:14, same bat time, same bat channel.
