Remember those days in grade 2 when you solved the math problem (damn long division got me every time) and you would win a gold star? And then if you got enough gold stars, you would win a toy? Or extra play time? Or perhaps a sweet iron-on badge that you would proudly put on your favorite jacket and wear forever and ever? Me neither, but today sure felt like that! Those that showed up in the frosty -40 temps received the first ever NP YWG Weatherproof badges – and boy you guys must have really wanted a badge because a whole butt load of you showed up in full force to take on the temps…
Here’s the low down on the badges: we chose -31 as the cut-off temperature and we are including windchill in that factor. The temperature will be checked on the Environment Canada website at 6 am to determine if the workout will qualify for a badge. Why -31 you ask? Silly question, really. 1) its cold as balls; 2) its a random prime number and every knows that prime numbers are the best numbers; 3) (and most importantly) November Project Canada (AKA Edmonton) has been giving out -30 weatherproof badges, so naturally we needed to be better. Or worse, i’m not really sure which applies here. Anyways, the point is, we are better looking (thanks HD).
ONE BADGE PER PERSON. These things are expensive so PRETTY PLEASE only take one badge per person. The next time we have a -31 day, if you already earned a badge at a previous workout, please don’t take another. Honour system applies. Also, absolutely NO grabbing a badge for someone you missed the workout – no excuses on this. These badges must be earned by showing up.
A very hairy Guy Fawkes (AKA Jamie) showed up at the workout today to give a nod to CARL. CARL is a very deserving winner of SHABOOYA as he grinds so hard every workout and puts everything he has in to both fitness and fitness communities in Winnipeg. Thanks for showing up, CARL! We love CARL. CARL.
