Why? (YEG)

In my first real job after graduating university (I know, I’m just as shocked as you are that I graduated), I was sent to Kansas City for training (I know it makes no sense). None of that is important, but the trainer I had there, his name was Ian (real name), kept driving home the idea: Seek to Understand.

As someone who analyzes every little detail, this has applied to everything. There is always a story behind something, and it’s not almost never what it may seem. Why do we do we say good morning? Why do we bounce before each workout? Why does Jen have to go to work? Why do we have a blog? Why do we have a blog sponsor? Why is the Positivity Award a piece of wood? Why do we sometimes make you stare into someone’s eyes for 7 seconds? Why do we hug? Why? Why? Why? While it may appear random, everything has a why at November Project. But that doesn’t just apply to what we do during the workout. It applies to who you are. Why do you show up? Why do you run? Why do you not wear a shirt? Why do you have to run an extra .03km when your Garmin says 4.97km? Why do you not post your race time on social media? Why do you not verbal? You can ask why in regards to just about anything.

So…. why am I asking this? Well, instead of spending time reading a blog today, take the time instead to reflect on your Why.
