Washing Machine (YEG)

I think most people would know what I mean if I told you to meet at the blue sculpture/water-feature on the Victoria Promenade. As long as I can remember, this artwork has existed at the top of Victoria Hill, on the east end of the Victoria Promenade. It’s a pretty significant landmark, but I’ve never known much about it. Turns out, there’s not a lot out there online about it either. I did a quick Google search, and didn’t find come up with much, except that it’s called “The Oliver Convergence” by Tony Bloom.

During our workout, however, I learned a new nickname for it: “The Washing Machine”. Thanks to Andi for telling the story of Andrew using this name. Looking at the fountain, it’s pretty easy to see why this resembles some sort of washing machine. I don’t think I’ll be able to see it as anything else going forward.

See you Wednesday for another workout at Commonwealth! I can’t wait!

Lift each other up,

Eric
