The weather outside was frightful (NPSF)

The weather outside was frightful, but being with NPers is so delightful,
so F*k it, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!

This morning a brave (slightly nuts) handful of us took to the Lyon Street Stairs – all 332 of them, as we learned from Alex Trembath’s stellar history lesson. Although he did google “Lion Street Stairs” so history could’ve been from a completely different place.

The non-denominational Holiday workout was meant to include dreidels, to spin and ultimately be gifted with an exercise to be done between sections of stairs. SF has no dreidels – anywhere – but Stephanie did excellent paper renditions thoughtfully placed in ziplocs at the top on Broadway and in the middle on Vallejo. We did burpees, mtn climbers, squats, push-ups and both normal and vertical crunches, a twist on the classic created by Scarles.

SF also provided one of its signature gifts – a clogged drain. Placed perfectly at the bottom of the upper section, giving us a wide 3” deep puddle to run through in both directions. Advice? Jump hard from 3-4 steps up. That way you get the last dry spot on your body soaking wet. Caity, didn’t you just ‘air your grievance’ over wet socks?

Smiles and wet hugs are usually enough, but not today, those that opted for cold wet over warm dry were also rewarded with Mitch’s homemade Buckeye’s – peanut butter and chocolate deliciousness – and jelly belly candy canes. Big thanks to Raena and Stephanie for the action photos, hope no phones got water logged.

A very Happy Holidays to each of you and your families!
