The NP Family (YEG)

Today was Breanna’s workout here at NP Canada before she moves to join NP Vancouver. Breanna first heard of NP long before she showed up. She read all of our blogs and stalked us on social media, like a true reporter. Finally, she decided to show up, and unless the world was burning down, you could find her at NP. A piece of her (Guy) will always stay with us no matter where she goes and we know she’ll be back to visit. We figured that it was only fitting to let her write a story (did I mention she was a reporter?) for today’s blog.

Today was a great day.
Today we hugged, bounced and yelled “oooohhhhh yeah” (and the Kool Aid man didn’t even show up.)
Today we ran stairs, did burpees pushups and situps (thanks for the company Lindsey and Christy) and we high-fived the constable.
Today we ended with a crowd surf for the cutest Ference and her birthday twins.
And today I cried.
As some of you may know, tomorrow I head off on a new adventure. My job is taking me to Vancouver for an amazing opportunity but it’s a bittersweet one.
I joined November Project almost three years ago. At the time I had friends, but not the kind that would fly to California with me with two days notice. I had a best friend, but not the kind that would stand with me keeping me going when I thought I was going to die on a treadmill. I had mentors, but not the kind that gave really good hugs and encouraged me to sign up for races and challenges. I had family but the kind linked by blood, not friendship.
Now I’m leaving NP Canada with a really big, loving, extended family. One made up of really friggin fast cousins, really kind and protective brothers, really sweet and thoughtful sisters, hilarious uncles and inspiring aunts. Some of those people welcomed me day one, others I got close to at Summit or on Walterdale and some I’ve only really gotten to know over the last few weeks. I love you all the same.
The great thing about November Project is that I know I have a family waiting for me in Vancouver. They might not be as big, or as weatherproof but it does make it easier. We all have family in 33 different cities around the world. No questions asked.
Edmonton is, and always will be, home. I’ll be back and I expect the tribe to be bigger, louder and sweatier. Make friends with your tribe mates because you don’t know when one might move…leaving you wishing you had spent more time together. Keep cheering each other on, keep welcoming newbies and please please please keep an eye on my Dad. He’s kinda the best.
You have all made leaving really friggin hard. And how blessed am I that I have something so difficult to say goodbye to? Very.
Love,
Breanna from the News
