Racing For Donuts

The last few weeks, maybe since the #NPSFOlympics, we’ve been crushing races. Not only has the tribe been pounding pavement and trails in marathons, 50ks, 5ks and more, but our actual workouts have been competitive. And let me tell you, I fucking love it.

For me, November Project is the closest I’ve gotten to a true team environment since college athletics. Just showing up, having someone tell you what you need to do, and then pushing yourself with teammates can easily describe an NP workout and a practice. Everyone getting better, pushing each other, and actually giving all they have.

This morning was one of those days. Maybe it was because the group was smaller or because there were donuts. I don’t care, it was awesome. Thank you to everyone who showed up and really went after it.

Long (workout) story short there were four stations where you challenged a partner to race around the building (in a donut shape!). At the end, in the ultimate showdown, Patrick Canfield took home the prize as top donut competitor.

I walked up to him with the open box of glistening and fresh donuts, smelling sugary sweet, and gave him the first pick of the Donut Draft. And he picked…jelly filled. What?! I know. It basically crashed the Vegas sportsbooks. No one in the world had bet on the jelly filled as the top pick. I think we can all thank Patrick for showing us that anything is possible. Even a jelly filled donut can be first.

Have a great Labor Day!
