Quick Announcements and an Important Topic (IND)

Announcements:

Friday’s workout will be on the NORTH end of the Canal Walk in front of Bugg’s Temple/IU Health.

As we continue to make our city our gym and explore every/learn every bit we can, every 3rd Friday of the month, we will be working out at different Indy park.  We hope to keep these within running/biking distance of The Circle as to incorporate that in to your workout and make them accessible.

If you aren’t already, please find your way to our IndyNP Social Facebook page – you can be added by any member of the group.  So if you need to be added, please friend myself, Casey, or anybody from NP Indy and we will get you added.

Tons of cool events and races coming up starting with a run at Brebeuf High School THIS Sunday.  It is a 5K or 3K to benefit The Special Olympics of Central Indiana.  Registration is at 12:30 with a $5 donation requested but more can be given if you choose.

October 8th will be the Brunch Run hosted by the same folks that put on the Run(317) races.  We are teaming up with them for this run and will have a huge presence in the race, including an NP “Warm-Up workout” prior to the race.  Details to come but DO NOT SIGN UP YET.  We will have our own promo codes along with an awesome NP Indy specific recruiting challenge.

Blog:

In lieu of writing a blog this week, I am going to link one that is being shared around all November Project cities and is very important to ALL tribes and tribe members.  Please take the time to read it as it pertains to hugging, “personal space”, and what may not be comfortable for some people.  My thoughts:  The “hugging thing” is one of those things that sort of defines November Project.  We have always said that we are huggers…there are many reasons why, but it can be very polarizing.  Discussion is welcome on why we hug but I won’t defend or condemn any of these reasons in this blog.

I will say this: If at any point in time you, or anybody you know at the workout, feel uncomfortable or unsafe in any way.  DO NOT HESITATE to approach me or Casey about it.  We truly want you at the workout, and if the hugging is not your thing and is something that makes these workouts less appealing to you….don’t be afraid to make that known to us or anybody else.  You are always welcome.  On that note, if somebody has taken a hug or physical contact to an inappropriate level and you are uncomfortable, that is not acceptable and please let us know.  NP is truly for EVERYBODY.  We want to make sure everybody feels safe.  As far as NP Indy goes, we will continue to lead with a hug.  I always will.  But I will never force this on anybody or make anyone feel like this is a necessary part to fit in.  I ask all tribe members to just keep this in mind as they meet new people.  Lead with a hug if you like, but if you sense somebody really is not digging that…don’t force the issue.  High-fives save lives too.

Here is the blog – don’t be afraid to reach out or discuss your thoughts.  Thanks to everybody for showing up and for making November Project such a positive experience for all.   All the props to the writer for being so open and honest to share this.

Love,

Shaw
