#NP3Words – Guest Blog by Alek (NOLA)

Alek Krautmann, everyone. Our personal meteorologist, our most excitable friend, a loyal NP-er and now a dropper of wisdom. Alek wrote the blog below and shared his own #NP3Words. We’re not sure how something really becomes viral, but we’re hoping to get it trending. Share in the comments below what your #NP3Words are. And thanks, Alek, as always for being a solid member of this tribe. Enjoy!

Community. Resilience. Accountability.

Those three words are what November Project means to me.

Community

Being outside is a way to stake claim to the city. From the parks to levees to squares to the random mornings in the middle of the neutral ground, the weekly workouts are a way of saying we’re here. With every sprint, push-up and hug NP ties our community together here in New Orleans and to other NP cities. That’s citizenship! I’m proud to be a citizen of November Project.

Resilience

New Orleans sure knows about that. Life in south Louisiana involves extremes. I’m a meteorologist with weather on the brain 24/7, so I often see parallels between the environment and everyday life. NOLA can be tough, but the people, music, food, and festivals make it all worth it. As a city, these celebrations get us through any rough times. Of course NP fits in there too as a place that makes us stronger. The relationships, familiarity, and healthy routine help us to withstand challenges at work, home, or elsewhere. It’s also important to me that positivity is a core value at NP. “Positive attitudes change everything.” That framework I first learned years ago. Positivity is resilience.

Accountability

I often think to myself, “better get a workout in between November Projects.” Yeah, NP gets me to do stuff on free days! Being part of this active group has motivated me to sign up for runs and events. It’s also fun to share in each other’s accomplishments like marathons, success at work, or awesome trips. I hear about how these folks participate in the city – mentoring youth, Mardi Gras krewes, advocacy, and civic involvement. It’s a privilege to be associated with this group. No matter what just by showing up I can have a good morning with the best people in town.
