The last ten months have been like a rollercoaster of new adventures and brilliant new challenges.
The day I have been asked/slightly forced to verbal my first attendance at November Project was the moment I knew directly this is where I can get stronger, where I can get faster and also where I can learn how to motivate others and myself!
There’s an indestructible bond between you and other people who work out. They are always willing to go the distance, understanding you on a different level – it’s like you’re “soulmates.” They are there for you through various pains and victories, and while this is true in a more figurative way for friends, there are differences between a workout buddy and your non-workout/running friends.
With a running buddy, you can ask them to sign up for a half and the first response is usually, “Sure, what weekend?!” Asking a friend to run a half? “How many km’s is that?” Or “Ha, you’re nuts,” are usually two variations of responses. Work out buddies just get the addiction. Friends will always support you no matter how many miles you log, but might not understand the need for speed on the same level.
Friends will follow your race destinations on Instagram and running friends will follow you to your destination, to race beside you. This is exactly what I found in the November Project. I need you all for that feeling/rush I often search for.
On Monday was again such a day, without any clue I was asked by Annelise & Saskia to come along to eat something after we did a nice training. First I was still clueless and thought “ok maybe we will prepare a yearbook photoshoot,” but while I was still in a rush of the new exercises I had seen (things we could use in one of the November Project workouts) I was given a white paper together with some magic markers…
”Yes, start coloring please…in whichever color you would like”.
The moment I saw the words appear – “Will you be our third wheel?” – I got instant tears in my eyes and felt such a big rush in my body. The big jump in the air and hugs and a loud “YES’ I gave, could never describe the feeling these two gave me.
Such a big contrast of the mixed emotions of the November Project work out of today. A true soulmate “Majsan” is leaving the tribe, and on the same day, I got the chance to challenge and push the tribe to the next level. It hurts a lot to say goodbye to the person I have gotten to know as the most characteristic personality of our tribe. The funny one liners and quotes about Sweden and off course ABBA make me think, if everyone from Sweden is like her, please send her twin sister to the best city of Europe.
I have never found any “good” in goodbye, so I rather say “tot ziens”.
Every person you meet, anywhere in the world, could potentially be your next friend, maybe an extremely close friend, or perhaps a long-term partner. You never know, so I’d rather meet as many people as possible, to bond and become friends with all those I connect with, to share great moments and memories and to know that some of these friendships will last, somehow, some way, despite having to say “tot ziens”. Those potential life changes, and the friendships that are created, no matter what the form, are not something I want to miss out on.
Majsan we will miss you and good luck in the big apple!
