This has been a very inspiring week for the ENTIRE November Project community. In New York City on Sunday, we saw Shalane Flanagan become the first American woman in 40 years to win the New York City marathon. Believe it or not, Shalane is no stranger to November Project, in fact, below is a picture of her receiving the Positivity Award at November Project Boston in 2014.
And, right here at home we saw our very own tribemate – Andrew Peterson become the second Special Olympic athlete in history and the first in 35 years to qualify for the Boston Marathon on time alone. His story is truly remarkable, and in lieu of my usual blog jibberish, I will let you read his father, Donald Craig Peterson’s blog (posted below) as a recount of how Andrew prepared to reach this goal. My comment is simply this: I am so INSANELY proud to be a part of this tribe/movement/community, which has the power to collectively lift each other up and help each other reach goals for no other reason than we truly want people to reach them. From Andrew’s Boston Qualifier to Jaden and Timmy’s first full marathon to Jordyn’s first half to countless PRs and “first times” – these are all things that would have been VERY difficult to accomplish without the support and inspiration that you all give each other on a weekly basis. You are all remarkable individuals and I can’t wait to see what other goals we can help each other reach moving forward.
