Mondays, man. They’re rough. If you’re anything like me, you’re still not over the shock you experienced yesterday when you realized you had to go to work today (except for Louis because #funemployment). But since the inception of Monday Pop-Ups here in NOLA (CREDIT TO TWO-A-DAY TODD FOR THE ORIGINAL IDEA), Mondays aren’t so terrible anymore. I mean, who wouldn’t want to start off their Monday with hugs, sweat and FREE coffee & bagels?!

Honestly, this morning was awesome. We all met in the parking lot of Dryades Public Market, most people confused on how or why we were meeting there. Unbeknownst to them, we would be running to Lee Circle for a majority of the workout and finishing back in the parking lot. At Lee Circle, we did some stairs, woke up some strangers, and time-travelled to before I was born for a Roto-Dial workout. Upon our return to the market, we reinforced your love-hate for us with Sebastians (7 minutes of burpees) before you got to go into the market. Sorry, not sorry. You can love us when you feel accomplished all day today, hate us when you’re sore tomorrow. Either way, you know you’re going to continue to #justshowup. But on to the point…
The reason we met there today was to educate all of you on the greatness that is Dryades Public Market. Kevin, the manager of the market, welcomed us with open arms and free breakfast, capitalizing on the true meaning of this market – one built for the community by the community. November Project is a place for community, a place to feel welcome no matter who you are or where you come from. The same goes for Dryades Public Market. As posted on their website,
“Dryades Public Market is a unique food market that builds upon New Orleans’ historic tradition of public markets and offers affordable, fresh food to the Central City corridor. Through partnerships with established New Orleans vendors and purveyors, we provide fresh and prepared foods to the Oretha Castle Haley corridor and will serve as a flagship property in the neighborhood, driving further economic development. Dryades Public Market will also serve as a neighborhood gathering space, with programming targeted to encourage locals to engage with each other in the space.”
We want to thank Kevin and Dryades Public Market for hosting us this morning for a great workout and a greater breakfast, especially since he opened up early just for us. You better bet you’ll see us back there soon. Next time for happy hour 😉 Go win your day, NOLA. See you Wednesday.
