First off, we want to thank our guest leader, Liam, for planning and executing this morning’s workout! From wherever you were zooming in from, somewhere on unsurrendered Algonquin Territory, we are grateful for this morning and the chance to get up bright and early and move together. We moved together the entire time, at whatever pace and challenge by choice. It’s awesome to have people from the community take the leap to lead a workout. If you are keen to give that a go, let us know, we would love for you to be a part of that. More to come!
We talked about having further and ongoing discussion about this topic in last week’s blog, as it is a very important one, and one that will require work on a continuous and lifelong journey. We want to direct you to the Next Steps page put out by NPHQ as this is the direction and commitments November Project at a global level is heading and what is being done about it.
You have heard us discuss this topic before. We recognize the lack of representation in the BIPOC community. We are working with leaders in this area at the NP global level, with DA Dirks and Soumya Palreddy, who have guided the direction forward. We will continue to share resources that have been valuable to our learning and we have a long way to go. We want to share these resources as we believe those who want to learn alongside us, can contribute positively to bettering our community together. The following is a video from Running Industry Diversity Coalition we shared last week. In case you missed it, here is the conversation we have found added lots of value, and are open to join:
First Conversation: A talk about talking about race
Passcode: fKG7^hMk
A follow up conversation will be taking place. It’s free and will include breakout room conversations: Running Industry Diversity Coalition’s second conversation: Why DEI? is on Dec 7th at 4pm EST
Learning about racial justice, diversity and inclusion will be tackled by us personally one week at a time, and will be guided by NPHQ’s Next Steps. Along with some people who have already come forward to let us know they want to be part of these discussions, let us know if you want to be included in that, no matter where you are at in your learning, and you want to be part of those discussions as well.
