It’s never just ANOTHER Monday here in Boston.
With my leg on lock down for the foreseeable future I’ve taken up lens a bit more and giving the pen a whirl. I don’t have a ton to say besides I can’t imagine kicking off my week any other way besides for our shenanigans at this mornings deck. I do want to share two things with you — something weird and something stupidly awesome.
(1) Something weird: Today’s deck ended up being a Deja Vu deck. Now we can’t plan all the magic at NP, sometimes it just happens…
These two little boy cones arrived to the deck with a plan — one heavily based on google map imagery and mental images from over a year ago when we scoped out this park. Needless to say it was going to be flawless. We showed up at 6am to give it a test drive.
The park was a lot smaller than we remembered. There were a lot more ditches, weird hills and shit than we had remembered too. In fact we weren’t even sure this was the park we really thought it was… We called an audible and came up with something new. We both thought back to the deck at the baseball field near the Charles River. With not a lot of time we’d figure we’d recreate it. As we’re ‘fine-tuning’, we started laughing about some funny memories from that workout — the Blue Ball award, dumping the dirty water from the Charles over Regan…
“OH HEY REGAN”
Regan rushes up to throw a few hugs our way and reminds us that it was exactly one year ago at the deck, on a diamond near the Charles, of us dumping that dirty water all over her…
You know EXACTLY where the Chris’ heads went…

and from that little twinkle in our eyes you know EXACTLY where Regan’s head went…

We couldn’t. We wouldn’t do the same thing as last year right?! Don’t assume anything, Regan.
Same Deck. Same Bday Celebration. BOOM. #DejaVuDeck.
Next year your birthday celebration falls on a Wednesday. We know WOO has a workout, but you wanna keep the tradition alive, don’t you?!?
(2) Something stupidly awesome:
6:27am, Poppa Bojan mosied by the workout to give us our traditional slap on the ass, a little motivation speech and then returned on his way back to his little ones. His parting words were something like”Be really loud” or “I don’t want to deal with any noise complaints”– something along those lines. We started out trying to be somewhat quiet. Well in about 4 seconds I realized that was nearly impossible. We got semi loud. Then ended being totally loud! I was all prepped to have to chat with a neighbor about how we’d never be here again and that we’re truly sorry — we don’t mean too, we just get carried away with excitement sometimes.
So about halfway through the workout one of the neighbors brings out her dog and b-lines it right for me. Here we go.
“Are you guys going to be here again?!”
Already in defense mode “GOOooOOD Mornin’!! Nope we’ll never be here again — One and done, ya know, one morning stand sort of thing…” (Yes sometimes I wanna eat my own words)
“Bummer! my husband and I would love to join you guys.”
Whoaaaa what?! I definitely wasn’t ready for this. Payne laughing his ass off because he could see exactly what was going on. I immediately switched into recruit mode.
She was stoked on the project, I got stoked even more stoked on the project. They’ll absolutely be joining us in the future.
There’s not many life changing take aways from today besides always keep it weird, recruiting makes you even more stoked about the movement and straight up don’t assume anything. Right Reagan?
We’ll see you on Wednesday for some Humid Summer Stairs.
Much Love,
Capoze
