I hope everybody hasn’t put their long sleeves and sweaters away quite yet because they needed them this morning. A chilly May day gave us perfect weather to wear our hockey gear and green to remember NP legend Ben O’Meara as we bounced, laughed, hugged, and sweat just like he would have wanted.
All Decked Out:
This morning’s workout was the old ‘Deck and a Bucket Relay’ – four stations, each with a deck of cards, where the congregants turned and burned until teammates came through to tag them out and on to the next station.
Spades = Burpees
Clubs = Push-Ups
Diamonds = Squat Jumps
Hearts = Leg Raises
This is always a crowd favorite because of all the interaction around the decks. Always fun, unless you’re the one who flips the Ace of Spades in which case you are banished from the trust tree.

Announcements:
- Saturday is the Mini Marathon!! Between the badasses we have running and the even badder-asses showing up that morning to cheer, NP Indy will be well represented!! Pre-race bounce and picture will be at 7am on the south side of the statehouse (see diagram in link below). If you aren’t running – join the cheer station!! Casey has meticulously laid out all the plans here – SO READ UP:
- Friday – our very own Tory Tornado will be aligning our spines and our chakras with a “Day before the Mini Marathon stretch/yoga-type session. 6am at The Tent on the south side of the Canal Walk over by the NCAA Hall of Champions. Bring a yoga (or similar type mat) and foam roller if you have one.
- Congrats to Andy for smashing the #plankbank photo challenge by putting his passport, citizenship, and physical well-being on the line by planking on literally everything. From his backyard to the top of a skyscraper in Shanghai, Andy made sure he got his planks in whether the Chinese authorities liked it or not.
Final Word:
The loss of Ben O’Meara on Sunday rocked the November Project community from coast-to-coast and continent to continent because Ben epitomizes everything that this movement has become. From his giant smile to his tattoos, from his Mohawk to his bright shirts, from his bigger than life hugs to his encouragement of ALL tribes original and pledging, Ben unabashedly loved November Project. Even if you never met Ben, you have felt his presence at NP because we are ALL family. If you haven’t had an opportunity to do so, I encourage everybody to drop in on another NP tribe’s workout when you are traveling and you will understand just how connected we all are. Nobody understood this connection more than Ben. He instantly felt the vibe and did all he could to spread the love, and NP Indy is a prime example of Ben’s passion as he was major influence in Bobbie’s decision to start our tribe.
So today, take the vibes, laughs, smiles, and sore glutes from this morning’s workout through your day and reflect on just how amazing a day can be when you start with just a little positivity and encouragement. Take that positivity and encouragement and pass it along to everybody you can. Make your presence felt, make an impact, make today the best you possibly can for those around you. Then wake up tomorrow and repeat. And most of all, when you find something(s) and/or someone(s) that you love, do so with as much fervor as Ben did November Project. Go ALL IN. I promise, you won’t regret any of it.

I can’t wait to see you all this weekend!
Love,
- Shaw
