Happy Birthday, we’re 2!

Happy 2nd birthday NP SciMi! Woop woop! Birthdays are a wonderful opportunity to talk about where we’ve been, and how we’ll manifest our dreams for the future, so we wrote this as a reflection on just that. For some people this may be just a workout group, but for a lot of us, it’s become the place where we’ve met friends who are like family. A family of like minded, caring individuals who share a common interest in waking up early, sweating, and building community. This one’s for y’all! read more

November Project Scioto Mile

We want to include a prelude to this blog with the statement that we have tried our best to amplify Indigenous voices and link as many articles and websites as possible so that you can hear and read from Indigenous people. This is in hopes that we can all learn more and describe why we have chosen to change our name. We will detail the origin of Columbus Day, the importance of transitioning to celebrating Indigenous People’s Day and end with the history of Native Americans in Ohio and why we will now be November Project Scioto Mile.  read more

Dear Mental Illness

Happy mental health awareness month! Has anything ever been more ironic than celebrating mental health during a pandemic?

As mental health awareness and May come to an end, I wanted to talk about my experience around mental health and community. Specifically, this community.

This is what mental health awareness month means to me, take it with a grain of salt because everyone’s experience will be different. Also, this feels like a good place to put a trigger warning for severe depression/mental illnesses. If you’re not in a place where you feel strong enough to read about another person struggling, that’s totally chill. Move along, this will be here when you’re feeling better. <3  read more

I See You (Columbus)

Alllllllllllllllrighty!

We just finished our third Zoom workout… Yay! (ish)

(At least) 3 more to go before there’s even a remote possibility of seeing each other.

I know that we place a lot of emphasis around positivity. I mean shoot… we have a piece of wood we give out to people who are beams of positivity. These are strange times though… Positivity looks different in different times, and different on different people and I want to take some time to talk about what it looks like right now…  read more

"Hell Week" Guest Blog by Sam Ridenour

“I’m so glad you’re here!”

Hearing Greg Bennett say those words to me mid-workout last July 11th meant the world, especially as my upper body was being beaten to smithereens. About six weeks prior to that first blitzkrieg to my body, I had done the Run Across Haiti alongside 24 other runners, including 4 gals from November Project Philadelphia. The way they had supported each other through the training and how NP Philly had in turn supported them all throughout the journey made a huge impression on me. Reading about the November Project in Runner’s World a few years back was one thing. Witnessing how this community could help propel some of its own do something as crazy as running 200 miles in 8 days was another. Hearing Greg’s genuine words of kindness meant I had moved from sight and hearsay to experience, all before the burnout burpees!

Badass Unicorn Intentions

Happy 2020 everyone! What a beautiful day for everyone to be badasses and unicorns. No basic unicorns were seen today!

It’s that time of year again where it’s time to make new year’s resolutions! Or I guess that time has passed and now it’s time to start implementing your new year’s resolution.

#justshowup Birthday Edition

For some, birthdays are the best part of their year. I dread them. They are just so stressful, so many expectations, so few of them ever met.

But also I am SUCH a hypocrite (don’t @ me). Whenever I find out it’s someone’s birthday, I always lose my shit on them and force them to do something fun for their birthday. Because everyone deserves to be celebrated and reminded of how important they are in the world…right?

From Flustered to Fierce &Free&Fun&Friendship&Fitness

Welcome to the very first blog from November Project Columbus!!

I’ll be honest… writing the very first blog feels a lot like leading the first workout way back in August 2018. Yeah, sure maybe I’ve got a vague idea of what things are supposed to look like, but I’m still shitting my pants. Even while writing this, I’m not completely convinced that anyone will read this. Maybe it’ll just hide on the internet forever for some random person to find it in 3045. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!  read more
