A couple of weeks ago I blogged about several recent “Firsts” for NP YOW (a new location, a new baby, etc). We added to that list today, with Benhur’s first time guest leading! Benhur has been an enthusiastic member for many months now, and quietly leads by example every time he shows up. I was very grateful when he jumped at the opportunity to step up, and into the middle of our circle as Guest Co-Leader today! From crabs to silverbacks, and from ducks to tigers, we covered quite a spectrum of the animal kingdom this morning.
Return of PR Day…Again (Ottawa)
Yes, we’ve said it once or twice before in the last 365 days…but PR Day is BACK…Again!
Whether PR Day is your favourite or your least favourite workout of the month, it is a staple at November Project across the globe. For some it’s an opportunity to race against their peers, for others it’s a chance to beat their previous best (do you remember your previous best?? If you want to track it, you can do so on our spreadsheet ). PR Day can be 31 mins spent catching up with a friend, or chatting with a new friend, or meeting a Traverbaler (Hi Linda!). It can even be a day to do your own thing and focus on your core if your legs need some rest and recovery. PR Day is for Everyone, whether your goal is a PR in hills, in reps, or in fun!
Making History (Ottawa)
Did you know that today is “World Meteorological Day”? If you made it in time for this morning’s bounce at the Canadian Museum of History you do! And fittingly, this morning upon checking the temperature before leaving the house I spotted that Meteorological Services of Canada had issued a “Special Weather Statement”, warning of: rain, freezing rain, and a possible mix of snow and ice pellets. For those reading this Blog from outside of the Ottawa area, this time of year is often referred to as “False Spring”, because truly, any type of weather is possible, even within just one day. It always makes me think of the Crowded House song, Four Seasons in One Day…I’m definitely dating myself with that one lol
Here’s a first… (Ottawa)
There is a first time for everything. This week we had a few firsts at NP YOW….First time working out at the War Museum, First time making it to week 3 of Museum Month, First time having a baby for our regular Blog author (Congrats Becca!), and First time writing the blog on Thursday instead.. I had the best intentions of continuing the Great Blog Tradition of NP YOW, and I hope our loyal readers were not waiting with bated breath for this one… but life got in the way of blogging yesterday, so here it is, better late than never!!
Baking Up A Storm (Ottawa/WWW)
I’m not much of a baker. One time, many years ago, I brought cookies to a Christmas potluck. They were delicious. One of my co-workers asked me if I made them, and I confidently replied “Yes!”. I mean, I had bought the dough, but I rolled it, cut it with the cookie cutter, and placed the festive shapes in the oven. I was the one who removed them from the oven and put some coloured sprinkles on them. And I was the one who transported said cookies into the office for the enjoyment of my colleagues.
Name Game (Ottawa)
Good morning, YOWzers!
Thanks to you it was a delightful mix of silly movements, smiles & sweat.
Since Becca and Ryan are still enjoying some time on the California coast, this blog will be 99% less punny. By now you may have seen way too much coverage of NP Summit 9 in San Diego on social media, and we are very sensitive to the fact that it was not accessible for many people for many reasons this year. Some day – when travel is easier, when covid is less of/not a concern, when the location is closer – we really encourage you to consider attending. If you want to hear some of the Summit stories, come let’s have a chat, or search the #NPSUMMIT tag on instagram – the warmth of the California sun, and the NP Smiles shine through strongly.
